The road is now under full scale reconstruction and work is progressing at a decent pace. This time around it's no joke. Until March 2024, the Abule-egba--Sango--Abeokuta expressway was a Federal road. The state got concession and approval from FG to reconstruct and take ownership of the road in... March 2024. Immediately after, the state government awarded the reconstruction to Craneburg and they moved to site in August 2024. Work flow is from Abeokuta, and it would progres all the way to Sango-otta. You can ask anyone who lives along the axis. I took these while using the road to Sango yesterday. On duration: On the day of the groundbreaking, Craneburg gave a completion time of 2 and half years, so we are looking at 2026 Q4.show more

They've been reconstructing, reawarding, revisiting this road year in/year out for the last decade. Fill it with yellow sand and dissapear. I'm not sure what's different this time around. And the ETA is a couple of months before elections? So they refill it again just in time to promise it under 7-point agenda It really isn't fair.

I passed through the road on Saturday and works are ongoing at almost every bad stretch. I remember what happened between @DapoAbiodunCON and former Minister for works, Babatunde Raji Fashola. Dapo Abiodun wanted to fix the road, but FG denied him the opportunity, reason being that it's FG's property. Luckily, David Umahi was helpful and the Ogun State Government has been so proactive and swift since it took ownership. If you see Governor wey wan work, you go know. Dapo Abiodun is on top of his game.

I’ve often tried to avoid that road since the time of OGD. Getting to Sango used to take 2 to 3 hours, if not more. But I used that road yesterday, and I must say I’m impressed—@DapoAbiodunCON is taking proactive steps to ensure we no longer have to just survive on that road.

I'm glad this is finally happening. DA usually gets the stick for not fixing roads that are meant for the FG to fix. A lot of people don't know this. This is highly commendable @DapoAbiodunCON. Posterity will be kind to you.

You always call the road “Abule-Egba-Sango-Abeokuta “ is it not “Lagos-Abeokuta expressway” anymore?

It is, but by law, it’s no longer Federal Road, the part to be reconstructed by the state is actually the Sango Otta—Abeokuta express road.

It’s good that @DapoAbiodunCON is giving close attention to reconstruction of this road. It’s long overdue due and this will bring huge relief to users of this road as it very important to those working in Lagos and living in sango and Abeokuta 🤝🔥👌

I noticed serious works ongoing around Akinjole-Itori and some parts of Ifo. Despite the behind the scenes politics,many didn't know @DapoAbiodunCON to fight tooth and nail to be given this road to reconstruct. Better days ahead in Ogun state.

Posterity will judge Dapo Abiodun ,if the former minister of works and housing has given the state permission to reconstruct the roads ,the citizens won't suffer plying this road.
