The Rubber Hand Illusion That Tricks Your Brain 😨
32 条评论

🤔🤔

It’s because you don't see with your eyes, but with your brain; your eyes collect raw data while your mind constructs your reality and that is why the mind can be deceived.

That’s why the Brain doesn’t know there is something called the mind.

My brain can't even find my keys half the time, but it's ready to defend a rubber hand with its life? Absolute chaos😭

Your brain doesn’t see reality, it predicts it.

I had a weird sensation like this once, I was laying on the pillow, arms stretched out past it so I couldn’t see my hands, and then when I moved them around, it was like they were “lost” to each other, I couldn’t get them to touch so it was like this weird disconnect sort of feeling.

A fascinating demonstration of how easily our brain’s sense of ownership and touch can be fooled.

Brain: I control this body.. 😎 Rubber hand illusion: Hold my beer.. 🤯

It's like how the brain can imagine the pain of others just by looking at them.

Brain: 'This is my hand, 100%' Experimenter hits rubber: flinch Brain: 'Betrayal speedrun unlocked' 😭💀

this experiment is so cool!! glad you guys did a animation of this one

Huuuuh okay 👍

That jump at the end got me—my brain fully bought the fake hand drama 😭

Amazing trick 😅🤣😜

Will it hurt though, or it has to be actually triggered in order to feel hurt.

I need to try something out...

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰? 😨 Your brain decides what belongs to your body using sight and touch. When a fake hand and your real hand are stroked at the same time, the brain merges the signals and says: that rubber hand is mine. Ownership isn’t physical. It’s a belief your brain constructs.

So our is our enemy

What if you hit the plastic hand and the real one at the same time with TWO hammers, do you feel double the pain?

Finally, you made an animation on this

i had a feeling a knife was gonna be brought into the video lmao

Intresting

Reminds me of phantom limb pain, how brain rewires itself. After amputation nearby cortical areas take over the lost limb’s representation that causes the brain to falsely perceive pain from a limb that are no longer there.

"and then have someone stroke them"

That's really fascinating the brain really works with vision and emotions

This is so informative. 🙏

I might be scared

phantom pain?

@grok how does this work and what is the science behind it

I guess I'm built different

so just close your eyes
