This is Benham’s Disk, a classic optical illusion that tricks your brain into “seeing” colors that aren’t actually there at all. The woman in the video asks what color you see… and she even shares how her own color kept changing (purple the first time, blue the second, yellow while filming!). I’ll be honest — when I first heard about this I thought the colors were going to reveal something about my eye health or how well my cones were working. Turns out it’s just a beautiful optical illusion caused by tiny timing differences in how your red, green, and blue cone cells react to the rapid black-and-white flicker. Your eyes and brain are doing some wild behind-the-scenes math, but nothing is “wrong” with you — it’s actually a cool demonstration of how incredibly designed our vision system is! What color do you see when you watch the disk spin? The color I kept seeing was a soft green, almost exactly the same lime shade as the wall right behind her!
