The process began with the lowering of one of the six segments of the main shield, weighing approximately 170 metric tonnes. This segment measures about 8.66 metres in length and approximately 7 metres in width and was lowered at a depth of 56 metres below ground level—equivalent to a 20-storey building, at Vikhroli, Maharashtra. Out of 21 km of tunnelling works, 16 km is through Tunnel Boring Machines and remaining 5 km is through NATM. This also includes 7 km of undersea tunnel at Thane creek. •Approx. 3.6 km tunnel heading has been achieved cumulatively from Shilphata and two concurrent faces from ADIT portal through the New Austrian Tunneling method (NATM). The main shield tunneling work on the world's longest undersea highway tunnel — the second undersea tunnel of Jiaozhou Bay — was completed on Tuesday in Qingdao, east China's Shandong Province. The 17.48-km-long tunnel, with a 9.95-km section beneath the sea, has a designed speed of 80 km/h and will facilitate regional travel.

I am in Japan and having a wonderful experience riding on the Bullet 🚅 Train Shinkansen at 300 km per hour. Taxpayers should thank PM Narendra Modi for bringing the Bullet Train to India, starting with the first 500 km from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, and providing the best infrastructure for the people! We need such bullet train connectivity across the north, east, west, and south.
