It is a right,” said Sigrid Kaag, former Dutch foreign minister and senior UN Gaza humanitarian aid coordinator, now an Executive Board member on Trump’s Gaza “Board of Peace.” She added: “If there’s any people that have been going through the same exam cycle to never be allowed to graduate, it is the Palestinians — highly qualified, subjected to many rounds of conflict and occupation, but never graduating.” Kaag said phase two of the ceasefire must be implemented without delay, and political will and leaders’ ability to pressure “friends” with “tough love” is the main reason why it is stalled. Kaag said that aid and dignity for Palestinians must “not be subject to any other party’s determination,” adding, she didn’t want to see just 10% of Palestinians in Gaza receiving shelter in the Green Zone. Calling the failure in Gaza “a stain on the international institutions,” she said, “We have to move from words to action,” and that Palestinians must be “in the driving seat” of their future.
