1979 & pretty much The Double Album Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness by Smashing Pumpkins was definitely amongst the music that was part of the soundtrack to my youth growing up, I was a fan of Smashing Pumpkins back when I was 8 years old when Siamese Dream came out in 93'.
