The SPC has preliminarily confirmed that our MCS which caused significant damage across northern Illinois and Indiana earlier this morning and afternoon will be classified as a Derecho! The maximum wind gust associated with this derecho reached 99MPH in Gary, Indiana earlier this morning!

This destructive MCS produced an extreme swath of severe winds, with a peak wind gust report of 126mph near Atkins, Iowa. 27 tornadoes were confirmed from the complex, most of them in Northern Illinois. Unfortunately, 4 fatalities were confirmed from the complex. This derecho resulted in over $11 billion in damages.
