Today, during our meeting with Dutch Prime Minister, we focused our discussion on strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, including new air defense systems and the missiles for them. I am grateful to the Netherlands for announcing a new assistance package for Ukraine. Despite numerous challenges and obstacles, Ukraine was able to maintain international attention on our fight for independence and strengthen our country's resilience. The main argument in international communication is what one is worthy of and capable of enduring and overcoming. The world pays attention to those who are resilient and brave. I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine, as well as those who fight and work for our country, our independence, and our people.

Today I was in Dnipro and held a meeting with entrepreneurs of the Dnipro region — currently the number one region in terms of contribution to Ukraine’s GDP and in many other key economic areas. I thank everyone who is preserving and creating jobs in the region, everyone who is working for Ukraine and for the benefit of Ukraine. We will continue all government programs that have proven effective and that support our production and our economy. There is still more we can do to support our industry — I’ve instructed government officials to fulfill what the entrepreneurs have asked for today. Ukraine’s results are shared results — the achievements of all those who have chosen Ukraine, who are actively working for Ukraine, and who are ready to do whatever is necessary for our country to endure and achieve its goals. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine.

I thank Sweden for all its support for Ukraine – for our people and for our defense. Sweden is absolutely committed to protecting life, and we value this immensely. Today, we have a new support package for Ukraine, and the most important element of it is the Swedish Gripen fighter jets, which will strengthen our air force. Overall, this year, next year, and our future cooperation are all about building Ukraine’s fleet of Swedish Gripens. This will help us guarantee the security of Ukraine and Ukrainians. Today, the Ulf Kristersson and I also discussed the details of our cooperation across all other areas. I briefed him on the situation in Ukraine – on the battlefield and in our defense against Russian strikes. We need our own European antiballistic capabilities in sufficient quantity and with sufficient strength. We will work on this, including within the NB8 format – one of our most effective formats, bringing together Ukraine, the Nordic countries, and the Baltic states. I am also grateful to Sweden for all the sanctions steps – everything that limits Russia’s capacity for aggression.

Today, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rob Jetten, Mr. Schoof, is in Ukraine, and I am grateful for the consistent attention and support for Ukraine. We discussed many pressing issues. Yesterday’s Russian strike on Kharkiv sadly took the lives of two people. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Around 30 people were wounded—all have received the necessary medical assistance. I thank our rescuers and medics who work every day for our people. Over the past week, most regions of Ukraine have come under attack: 1,310 Russian guided aerial bombs, over 1,000 attack drones—mostly "Shaheds"—and 9 missiles of various types, including ballistic ones. A significant number were successfully shot down by our air defense warriors, mobile fire groups, and all units involved in protecting our skies. Russia is dragging out the war, and we are providing our partners with full information on the strikes the Russian army is carrying out and the actions it is preparing for. We expect a response from the United States, Europe and all our allies to this terror against our people. I thank all the leaders and states who understand this and continue their support. The stability and predictability of support for Ukraine are crucial. I am grateful to every country that helps us with air defense systems and investing in our defense industry—all of this helps protect Ukraine.

Energy workers and repair crews are working around the clock to restore electricity, heat, and water supply for people. And this is truly a monumental effort that matters greatly for our citizens – restoring normal life after constant Russian terrorist strikes. I am grateful to everyone involved. Over the course of this week, Russia launched almost 1,100 attack drones against Ukraine, more than 890 guided aerial bombs, and over 50 missiles of various types – ballistic, cruise, and even the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile. And they struck targets that have no military purpose whatsoever – energy infrastructure, residential buildings. They deliberately waited for freezing weather to make things worse for our people. This is deliberate, cynical Russian terror specifically against civilians. I thank our mobile fire groups that defend Ukraine from these attacks day and night, and all our other warriors from air defense units and electronic warfare units. I thank everyone who works for Ukraine. Right now, our internal resilience and the work to strengthen our defense are especially important. We need stable support for Ukraine, our defense, and coordinated diplomacy for the sake of peace. I am grateful to all partners who are working with us in exactly this way.

I informed Petr Pavel about the situation on the frontline and about our recovery needs. Every day, Ukrainians have to restore essential services after Russian attacks. And each of these strikes against our energy sector and our cities quite clearly shows Russia’s real interests and intentions: they are not interested in agreements, but in the further destruction of Ukraine. And it is precisely because of this that diplomacy is stalling. And that is why now, as before, we all need to remain focused on cooperation, to stand together politically – all of us in Europe, and all of us in Europe together with America. I thank Petr Pavel and the entire Czech nation for helping Ukraine. We appreciate the Czech Republic’s support and its attention to what is happening to our people here in Ukraine.

And there will be none. Just as there will be no safe space in the skies for them if Ukraine has sufficient strength. This refers to both partner deliveries and domestic manufacturing.

I thank Chancellor Merz, I thank Germany, and everyone who helps – our agreements have been fulfilled. More Patriots are now in Ukraine and being put into operation. Of course, more systems are needed to protect key infrastructure sites and our cities across the entire territory of Ukraine, and we will continue working to obtain them – not only at the political level with states and leaders but also directly with manufacturers of all necessary air defense systems and missiles for them.

Today, I presented state awards to our warriors from the Security and Defense Forces and handed the decorations to the families of fallen Heroes who were honored posthumously. I thank everyone who cares for Ukraine, who defends Ukraine, and who does everything they can to ensure that Ukraine exists. This morning, following Russia’s massive attack, I received a report from the commander – the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Kryvonozhko. About what the Russians were targeting and what our air defenders were able to do in response. Among the things that help us significantly make up for the shortage of air defense missiles are the expertise of our military and the courage of Ukrainian men. Our warriors are doing truly heroic things. Many people around the world would be simply unable to do that. Ballistic missiles remain a severe and painful threat, and the only way we can protect against them is with the support of our partners. And we are working with them to make sure Ukraine gets the capabilities it needs. And one of the most convincing arguments is precisely the expertise of our warriors, the ability of Ukrainians to shoot down even the most complex and dangerous Russian missiles. And of course, our biggest argument overall for all international cooperation, for all our international work, is the front. It is our positions, our defense, our combat brigades, and other Ukrainian units that repel Russian assaults and defend Ukraine. Today, I presented state awards to our warriors from the Security and Defense Forces and handed the decorations to the families of fallen Heroes who were honored posthumously. I thank everyone who cares for Ukraine, who defends Ukraine, and who does everything they can to ensure that Ukraine exists. This morning, following Russia’s massive attack, I received a report from the commander – the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Kryvonozhko. About what the Russians were targeting and what our air defenders were able to do in response. Among the things that help us significantly make up for the shortage of air defense missiles are the expertise of our military and the courage of Ukrainian men. Our warriors are doing truly heroic things. Many people around the world would be simply unable to do that. Ballistic missiles remain a severe and painful threat, and the only way we can protect against them is with the support of our partners. And we are working with them to make sure Ukraine gets the capabilities it needs. And one of the most convincing arguments is precisely the expertise of our warriors, the ability of Ukrainians to shoot down even the most complex and dangerous Russian missiles. And of course, our biggest argument overall for all international cooperation, for all our international work, is the front. It is our positions, our defense, our combat brigades, and other Ukrainian units that repel Russian assaults and defend Ukraine. Today, together with Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, we saw the latest Ukrainian developments – weapons and equipment created here in Ukraine to defend our state. I thank everyone engaged in this effort. We are building up our own production, and this is essential. I also met with the Defense Ministers of partner countries who came to us on Independence Day. This is a great sign of solidarity with our warriors and with all Ukrainian people. We discussed the significance of developing Ukraine’s defense industry, cooperation in various formats, and security guarantees for Ukraine, which are crucial both for the future of our state and for the security of the entire Europe. I am grateful for the support and the readiness to continue working together for the security of our country.

We know from our intelligence and our partners that the Russians have readied missiles for a new massive attack on Ukraine. The strike may take place today – we have preliminary information that it could happen within the next 48 hours. Please take care of yourselves and pay attention to air raid alerts. We are now in a new phase of development for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We have done a lot to transition the Ukrainian Air Force to a new aviation standard – Western combat aviation. From the beginning of this war, we have been talking with our partners about the need to close the Ukrainian sky from Russian missiles and aircraft. We have held hundreds of meetings and negotiations to strengthen the capabilities of our aviation, air defense, and Defense Forces. We often heard the word "impossible" in response, but we made possible what was our ambition, our defense need, and now – it is a reality in our sky. F-16s in Ukraine. We ensured this. I am proud of all our guys who are skillfully mastering these aircraft and have already started using them for our country. I thank our team for this result. I thank all the partners who are truly helping with the F-16s, and the first countries that accepted our request for aircraft – Denmark, the Netherlands, the United States, – and all our partners, – we value your support. I wish our Air Force and all our warriors to feel the pride of Ukrainians in our combat aviation and to bring Ukraine the combat results that will bring our victory closer – our just peace for Ukraine.
