Nine Accused in TUT Lecturer Murder Seek Bail Nine suspects accused of killing a lecturer from Tshwane University of Technology appeared in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court this morning, Monday to apply for bail. The matter had previously been postponed to allow the accused time to prepare their formal bail application. The lecturer was allegedly assaulted and killed in Soshanguve in late February 2026 in what police believe was a vigilante-style attack. He was reportedly dragged from his home and beaten in the street after being accused by community members of raping two children. Authorities have not confirmed those allegations. Police opened a murder case following the incident and arrested nine suspects in the early hours of 28 February. The group, six men and three women aged between 23 and 40 now faces a charge of murder. The accused are expected to continue their bail application as the court proceedings unfold, while police have urged residents not to take the law into their own hands and to allow the justice system to run its course.
