REPORT: San Diego, California, is expanding its homeless campground after some local officials determined the initiative had been a success. This would be a much better idea if the campground was on an island in the ocean. The homeless tent city currently has 541 tents but will now be increasing to nearly 800 tents as the city has been operating under budget. There are currently two lots. Lot O will cost taxpayers $22.4 million for up to four years of operations. Lot B will cost taxpayers $9 million for up to five years of operations. The Mayor continues to prioritize special interest groups over the blue-collar, hardworking families of this City. This isn’t a social studies project on civics, although our Mayor leads us to believe it is. This budget and the major impacts it has and will continue to have for years are real-life issues that affect not just the communities in my ward but the entire City. I commend my colleagues, those who aren’t beholden to the Mayor and his special interest groups, who took the time to put aside differences for the good of the City and voted NO on this budget. Our coalition of common-sense leaders wasn’t about "what’s in it for my community," but rather, "what’s in the best interest of the taxpayers of the City of Chicago?" The 2025 Budget vote will surely have lasting consequences. I want residents of the 15th Ward and the City of Chicago to know that I fought and will continue to fight for what is in your best interest, the taxpayer!

BREAKING NEWS! As chair of Sheffield Theatres we are delighted that the World Snooker Championships are staying in Sheffield - at The Crucible - until at least 2045! This is a big deal which is worth millions of pounds to the city but also enables us to revamp The Crucible, make it even more special, bring it right up to date and secure it for generations to come. The cost of the project is £45,000,000 and we have secured £35,000,000 worth of government funding and the other 10 is coming from the private sector and some of our partners. A lot of people have worked really hard to get this deal over the line and the city council have put the hours in. We know there are understandable questions about closing The Crucible for a projected 18 months and we will answer all of those. I should say that Sheffield Theatres will keep producing work in the Lyceum and the Montgomery while the Crucible is getting refurbished with capacity for an extra 500 seats. We feel that the benefits of this deal give us the chance to secure a sporting and theatrical legacy for Sheffield.
