Syria’s defense and interior ministries were deploying personnel to the area, but as one member of the Ministry of Defense said, "We have come to fight the Druze."

Rami Abdurrahman of SOHR said the conflict started with the kidnapping and robbery of a Druze vegetable seller, leading to tit-for-tat attacks and kidnappings. Some 130 people have been killed or wounded. The number will go up rapidly. Nasty photos of abuse are being published by both sides.

Thank you ALL for supporting them till they get the power. Don’t pretend to be surprised now and act like you care about the spilled blood.

They are NOT soldiers. They are terrorists. Please be mindful of your terminology. And it is NOT the Syrian Government. Nobody voted for them. They are headchoppers. And murderers.

It seems you have been wrong about Israel opposing this new government. They do nothing to defend the Druze.

The narrative claiming that the Syrian government sent internal security forces to support one side against another, and that soldiers appeared with swords chanting religious slogans, is completely false and deliberately misleading. The truth is this: The government deployed security units to de-escalate a violent conflict that erupted after an individual from a Sunni Bedouin tribe allegedly robbed a Druze citizen on the road—stealing his car and money, but notably not harming him. This was clearly a criminal act, not a sectarian one. In response, some armed Druze factions launched a brutal and sectarian retaliation, kidnapping innocent Sunni civilians and holding them as hostages. In turn, the Bedouin tribes responded by kidnapping Druze civilians. The situation escalated further when Druze militias attacked Sunni neighborhoods in Suwayda, killing families and children. The new Syrian government, acting to prevent further bloodshed, sent internal security forces to separate the parties and restore order. Tragically, these forces were ambushed and massacred by the same Druze armed groups—despite coming on a peacekeeping mission. As for the video being circulated: there is no sword visible in the footage—this claim is fabricated. The phrase “Allahu Akbar” is a common expression in military and cultural contexts across the region. It is not a declaration of sectarian war. Ironically, these same Druze factions—who portray themselves as victims—can be heard in other recordings chanting “Ya Salman,” invoking their own sectarian and religious slogans, exposing the double standards and extremist rhetoric they employ. The Syrian state did not take sides—it stood for sovereignty, law, and order. It moved to contain a dangerous situation spiraling out of control. Anyone ignoring these facts is either misinformed or willingly contributing to the spread of chaos and sectarian incitement.
