Great commentary. I would add anyone outraged on behalf of Jordan Neely should contribute not to BLM but to mental health assistance. might be a good option.

I’ve worked directly with NAMI. They really do try to help. They helped me get a young woman off the streets and reunited with her family.

The mental health system is, indeed, broken in this country. But where has Jordan Neely's family been? Why was Jordan Neely homeless? But NOW his father is going to sue Daniel Penny? Why did the black man that stabbed a homeless man get released - but Penny was arrested? Why are BLM people trying to incite riots and violence - when Penny saved blacks, Hispanics, Asians on that subway car? Jordan Neely wasn't asking for food - he announced he was going to kill someone. Jordan Neely's FAMILY failed him.

Well balanced take, wish more people took the time to process like this.

He also should have had parents who were present, front and center while he was alive, not dead.

Spittin. One thing you forgot though: Neely’s father failed him. If we rewind the tape even further and his sperm donor actually decided to be a REAL father, do we even get here? With you on BLM too

Beautifully said. If Bragg were any kind of DA instead of using Penny as a political pawn, trying to sew division he’d have thanked him for assisting those passengers and started an investigation into what put Neely on the train that day. Why after 42 previous arrests, no one, not his family, not mental health services and not the police, had worked to get him the help he needed. Some good could’ve come out of it, weaknesses could’ve been identified and systems could’ve been improved. A sad case where the two men at the heart of it were both failed and used as pawns in a game no one but activists and Bragg wanted to play.

There is no better commentary about this case than this one. Thank you. 👍

Amen! BLM looks for excuses to riot and create division. They are hurting their communities and actually worsening race relations. Americans as a whole are weary of the antics. Black Americans deserve better than BLM trying to be their face.

Where were Neely's family when he was mentally ill, homeless, and hungry before this went down?
