The teacher's vantage point

He would be making perfect sense if he purchased the cupcakes but he didn’t. One of the parents did.

if I count & pay for 24 cupcakes for 24 students- 24 students need to eat cupcakes. thats not for you to use my generous gesture of goodwill as a weapon or now dispose of my paid for cupcakes bc you didn’t give them to a few students due to your own personal discretion. OUTTA LINE & OUTTA PLACE! & why are we using food as a tool to discipline ?! these are children not animals.

Everybody mad at him is why your kid is acting like they do now. No home training

It would be different if he/the school purchased cupcakes to reward students. The student’s parents purchased the cupcakes to share with the class for their child’s birthday. A student’s behavior has nothing to do with celebrating a classmate’s birthday. The teacher was wrong

Who are you to impose your rules on their cupcakes. Weirdo ahh teacher. So if I send birthday invites to the whole class for you to pass out, you gonna decide on who gets them based on how they behave in your class? Or just say those things have to occur outside the school

Naw.. A child brings them in to celebrate THEIR day and EVERYONE gets a cup cake.. period.. U dont get to use it as a reward system on their day..

Passing out treats is NOT included in ANY child’s daily schedule 🥱

The ignorance in the comments is the problem. Since your bad kid doesn’t get rewarded for misbehaving then well behaved kids get nothing???? 😂😂😂 Y’all aren’t going to be happy until schools are privately funded like prisons and it’s fucc yo bad ass kid. Quit your job and keep em home & teach them.

Unless the child did something to the birthday child, everybody gets a cupcake. Use your own incentives to correct, or punish the student for what they've done. Teacher is wrong.

I would feel weird if I brought cupcakes and there were classmates who have to watch others eat. Like, why is that your way of disciplining them? What method would you have used before my child’s birthday? That type of stuff sticks with a child, but doesn’t improve their behavior

Not wrong. I do the same thing. Fuck these enabling parents. They’re not going to stop having kids or working so shutup. Teachers need to exert their power. Parents need to get in where they fit in. If it’s so important then reward their bad behavior by buying your kid a cupcake yourself.

When I was a teacher I wouldn’t withhold cupcakes from anyone but if a kid wasn’t good I’d put their cupcake in a baggie to take home. And we always did treats and stuff like that the last 15-20 minutes of the day because you will not be having a sugar rush on my time 🙂↔️

Those kids will be fine. If you’ve been acting up all day, no you don’t get a treat. If parents have a problem with it don’t put it on the teacher to celebrate the child’s birthday at school. It’s 1 more task to carry out, they’re allowed some discretion.

Yall are crazy. It’s his classroom. You don’t reward bad behavior. I remember being in school on Halloween they had a designated class room for kids who could not participate in the passing out of candy. It doesn’t matter who bought it. You don’t reward bad behavior.

Look at all the entitled parents that’s mad their badass kid didn’t get a cup cake because of their behavior but also can’t help them with their school work…..

i don’t think it’s the same bc the mom of the punished child is the one complaining not the parent who brought the cupcakes imo expectations should be set beforehand if you’re not ok with a child being excluded, and that’s how the teacher runs their classroom, don’t bring them

If HE bought it. Then I get it. A parent asked you how many kids and bought that amount. Give em the cupcake son.

I had to disagree with this one as a teacher. You should still do your best to make sure that that child’s birthday is fun as well. You’re using this moment as a teaching experience is taken away from the memory that this child could have of experiencing their birthday with all their friends.

Thats somebody else’s money, babe

He’s not wrong and yall in the comments mad asf he’s not giving bad kids sugar I’ll be fucking damned as a parent if bad ass kids getting treats

If a child threw a chair and a desk tore the whole room up that morning why tf would they get rewarded with a cupcake at the end of the day? The only ppl it’s not equitable is the kids that follow directions all the time and have to endure your bad ass children.

We don’t give participation awards Say that next time

If it was something else like crayons or something I would kinda understand more. But dude ur depriving children of food on a classmates bday… it’s just a little harsh. U didn’t buy them and im sure there are other ways of discipline

I think he's wrong. When i was little, if kids were not on best behavior they didn't get to celebrate with everyone else, BUT they got to take their cupcake home at the end of the day.

It’s so annoying when parents do this. It’s lowkey what the boomers were on about. You don’t get rewarded just cuz. You have to earn what you want typically with good behavior in work or school. It teaches the other kids I can be bad and still get what I want

I agree with the parent. I bought cupcakes for my son’s class and some came back home and when I asked why, same thing. I complained about it and now teachers at his school have to provide their own treats if they want to pass them out on a rewards system.

He’s right. You know there’s cupcakes. I remind you multiple times there’s cupcakes. You show your tail, you don’t get a cupcake. I don’t care what a parent brought into MY classroom. These are my students, and I will be sending those extra cupcakes home.

My school literally had a policy where you had to bring something for every child

He’s missing the point that this isn’t about “standard and reward”. That was a birthday party. Did he at least send the full snacks/gift bag home with the student and parent?

Yea, he should not be a teacher.

Giving treats to a class during class hours is an accommodation under the teacher’s discretion. Have a birthday party outside the school and invite the kids if you want your own rules. Celebrating a child’s birthday in school is luxury not a privilege.

If a parent spends one day in the classroom, they might not buy any cupcakes 😅

If a kid is not behaving well, then take away a sticker or recess or something. Using the cupcakes that a parent brought as a reward system is kind of cruel, especially if the kids are really little like first and second grade.

People who don't discipline their kids are mad at this man. After the Mom leaves he is the one who would have to deal with the sugar Rush and hyperactivity caused by the cupcakes. If he don't want to give bad kids cupcakes so he don't have to deal with their bad behavior later that's his decision. it's his class.

The teacher is not wrong end of story. If you want to reward bad behaviors then do it on your own time. This is why these kids are a bad af and never actually get in trouble. A lot of you parents SUCK
