This is what is so special: being afforded a glimpse into the lives of Kenya's elephants. When we rescue an orphan, we are given a privileged position, raising them like our own. When these elephants go wild, they repay us in kind. And so, we get to see tiny baby elephants like this, covered head to toe in mud! This tiny baby in question? Nala, the daughter of ex-orphan Nasalot, who we rescued in 2000. Despite a traumatic start to life, Nasalot became one of the most nurturing females in our care – and is now raising her third calf in the wild.
