Life Biosciences has begun an FDA-approved clinical trial using cellular reprogramming to regenerate aging neurons in the optic nerve of glaucoma patients. Instead of just slowing vision loss, the goal is to actually reverse aspects of cellular aging in the eye essentially trying to make old nerve cells young again. When these elephants go wild, they repay us in kind. And so, we get to see tiny baby elephants like this, covered head to toe in mud! This tiny baby in question? Nala, the daughter of ex-orphan Nasalot, who we rescued in 2000. Despite a traumatic start to life, Nasalot became one of the most nurturing females in our care – and is now raising her third calf in the wild.
