You can do the drill with the club right in front of your body to allow you to see what is happening. You see the pros shallow the club into the perfect slot, and hit one great shot after another. So why is it that most players can't seem to stop coming over the top? They'll steepen the club to start the downswing, and lose tons of distance and consistency. Most of this comes from confusion of exactly what you should be doing with your hands and arms to shallow the club. It can be hard to know for sure, since you can't even see the club at the top of the swing. I am going to solve that problem with a very simple set of drills.

If your golf swing doesn’t feel natural, you may be making it too complicated. Think about skipping a rock. Your body tilts, your arm moves naturally, and your motion flows toward the target. That same feeling should show up in your swing. Set up in a position that lets the club move back and through naturally, without forcing it. When the swing feels like skipping a rock, the club starts moving on plane with less effort and fewer moving parts. Simplify the motion. If you REALLY STRUGGLE to rotate in the backswing & it's forcing you to swing the club steep in the downswing, this could be a game changer for you! Drop the trail foot back & flare it open! This will open up your hip flexor a lot more than if your stance is square Try doing this as a drill at first & if you find it helps, maybe don't exaggerate it as much in a normal swing
