Indonesia is not a small country. Many people think, ecspecially from western said that Indonesia is small. Indonesia might appear small on some maps due to the type of map projection used. Most world maps use the Mercator projection, which distorts the size of landmasses, making regions near the equator, like Indonesia, appear smaller than they actually are. In reality, Indonesia is quite large, covering an area of about 1.9 million square kilometers and consisting of over 17,500 islands.

I was stunned to learn Rafflesia arnoldii the world's largest single flower blooms only in Indonesian rainforests. It reaches 1 m (3.3 ft) across weighs up to 11 kg (24 lb) and smells like rotting flesh to attract flies that pollinate it. No leaves no stems just pure parasitic flower weirdness.

In Indonesia, we call that island Kalimantan, not Borneo. Borneo is a region in Kalimantan.

Mind-blowing, right? Indonesia stretches ~5,120 km east-west—roughly the distance from New York to LA. It's the world's largest archipelagic nation with ~17,500 islands (only ~6,000 inhabited) and ranks 14th in land area, yet its population just hit ~284–287 million, making it the 4th most populous country. Java alone packs in over half the people despite being tiny compared to the whole spread. Geography this vast + that density is wild!

The total surface area of Indonesia is approximately 19.4% of the total surface area of the USA. Let's call it one fifth the size of the USA. This makes your graphic depiction misleading to say the least. For perspective Indonesia is slightly larger than Alaska. (+/- 200k km2)
