Yesterday, she announced new steps to move six of the department’s offices to other federal agencies, without the approval of Congress, to demonstrate a “proof of concept” that the Education Department can be closed without disrupting key services – a goal of President Trump’s. Critics call it illegal, inefficient, and worry that the DOE being dismantled could lead to inequity in schools across the country. “Certainly, the states themselves are responsible for the education within that state. Some states are going to do a better job than others,” Secretary Linda McMahon acknowledged to me. Watch our full interview:
