Andy Burnham explains why the UK Government has sanctioned violent settlers, illegal outposts and organisations supporting settler violence in the West Bank, and why settlement expansion threatens the possibility of a two-state solution. My view: Settlements built on land intended for a future Palestinian state make a viable two-state solution increasingly impossible. That is why the UK has sanctioned those involved in settlement violence and expansion. If there is no credible Palestinian state alongside Israel, there is no lasting peace or security for either people. A two-state solution remains the only serious route for Israelis and Palestinians to live safely, freely and with dignity. And it's refreshing to see this as the UK government's official position.
