The Nenshi NDP and Carney Liberals would rather use the tariff threat for political gain than do anything to actually stop them. While they rage in the media, Alberta’s UCP government is fighting tooth and nail to protect our jobs, our economy, and our sovereignty. I won’t back down. I won’t be silent. We will always do what’s right for Alberta, no matter what Ottawa says. Energy is growth. But our energy costs are some of the highest in the developed world. We have to cut the cost of power and only the Conservatives have a plan to do so. The British people are being squeezed, and our industries are being held back. This spineless Labour Government refuses to take the tough decisions needed to grow our economy. The Conservatives will scrap the carbon tax, paid for by getting Britain drilling. We will back British industry, level the playing field with foreign imports, and bring jobs and investment back to the UK. This will bring more jobs and growth to the economy, and cut costs for business. We believe in enterprise, in competitiveness, and in putting our national interest first. Only the Conservatives have a plan to get Britain working again: cut spending, cut tax and back business.

It is not unreasonable for Alberta to demand fairness from Ottawa. They have shown time and again that they will put ideology before practicality, which hurts Alberta families and our economy. We’re not going to apologize for continuing to stand up for Albertans so we get the best deal possible. Since Ottawa refuses to acknowledge their overreach and its negative impacts, even after losing battles at the Federal and Supreme Courts, we are putting in additional measures to protect our provincial jurisdiction to ensure our province receives our fair share of federal tax dollars and that those dollars are spent on the priorities of Albertans. From now on, all we should be asking him is "How?" There used to be something called the Alberta advantage, but it wasn't because of socialist policies like the ones the NDP favor. Before 2010, "The Alberta Advantage" was shorthand for Canada's freest economy. We had zero provincial sales tax, the lowest overall tax burden in the country, and a flat 10% personal income tax. Energy royalties fueled massive budget surpluses, $17B in one year alone, while low regulation and predictable permitting drew billions in oil sands investment. No debt, no deficit, and wages 20-30% above the national average. It wasn’t luck; it was deliberate policy. Small government, developing our oil & gas resources, and a culture that rewarded risk. Alberta wasn’t just different. It was the outlier proving markets could outpace bureaucracy. We were successful precisely because we were different. Nenshi wants to take us down the same, disastrous path, as every other province. We can never let the NDP regain power. One and done!
