The UK's June maximum temperature record is expected to be broken this week, and the highest minimum temperature record may be broken as well The high temperatures only tell part of the story however, as high humidity will add to how uncomfortable it is both by day and night🌡️

🌡️ Unusually intense May heatwave in Europe This weekend will bring very high temperatures to southwestern, western, and partly central Europe, locally up to 15 °C above the long-term average. The reason is a persistent high-pressure system over Europe, drawing in hot air from North Africa along its western flank and acting as a so-called heat dome. Air in the center of the high sinks and warms, suppressing cloud formation and allowing more solar radiation to reach the surface. As a result, hot air accumulates near the ground and continues to intensify. Temperatures may exceed 30 °C in western and central Europe, and reach up to 38 °C in southwestern Spain. Numerous daily temperature records are expected to be broken.

Red, and red again. 🥵 The temperature anomaly forecast for the next 14 days across Europe is overwhelmingly red — meaning well-above-average values. Especially in central parts of Europe, temperatures may reach record-high levels Winter is nowhere in sight for Europe. 🧐

☀️🌡️ Another heatwave is expected in Europe. Temperatures may exceed 40 °C as the summer solstice approaches Across many parts of western, southwestern, central, and northern Europe, temperatures are expected to rise well above the long-term average in the coming days. Unusually warm weather is already affecting the southwest of the continent. In Galicia, Spain, the Coruña Airport weather station recorded a high of 37.7 °C over the weekend, marking the station's highest temperature ever. In the second half of the week, exceptional heat will spread across much of Europe, as very warm air from the south gradually moves farther north along the western side of a high-pressure system. The heatwave is likely to be most pronounced in Spain and France, where temperatures could climb above 40 °C over the weekend, with local anomalies exceeding the long-term average by up to 15 °C. It is still unclear how long the hot weather will last, but some models suggest it could continue into next week. The upcoming heatwave could bring higher peak temperatures than the late-May event, partly because it comes around the summer solstice, when days are longest. ⚠️ Keep an eye on the latest forecasts and official warnings.

Where is the heat coming from this week? 🌡️ A broad area of high pressure is currently positioned over the UK, leading to sinking air that warms as it descends. Combined with prolonged sunshine, this is expected to push temperatures up to 29°C in southern areas by Thursday ☀️

The freezing level is the point in the atmosphere where temperature hits 0 °C and as this level lowers, colder air moves closer to the ground Into tomorrow, this means that some showers will fall as snow, though any accumulations will be confined to high ground in the north ❄️

🚨 Labour’s Defence Secretary may have just broken the record for the stupidest thing ever said by a Cabinet member (and that’s a staggering achievement). He said Labour will never leave the ECHR as it would make the UK the “only nation in NATO not to be signed up” to it. So he thinks the USA and Canada are in Europe? This man is in charge of our armed forces. This is why we need a total clearout of the political class.

Temperatures will be well above average, pushing into the mid 30s (°C) by Monday. Not only that, but it will also become very humid and muggy, especially in the south during both day and night, meaning it’s likely to feel even hotter than the heatwave we experienced in May 🥵

Temperatures will rise over the coming days for southern areas of the UK, though won't climb to the same level as last week 🌡️ A weather front will restrict how far north the warmth and humidity reaches; there's some uncertainty on the exact position but here's the latest ⬇️
