After the meeting, Trump said that the discussions resulted in the following 4 concrete actions: - U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports will be lowered from 57% to 47%. In May, Trump called Xi a “friend”, and said that “the relationship between the US and China will be greater than ever before”. Xi said that the China can help “Make America Great Again” and that the US and China can “help each other succeed and advance the well-being of the whole world”. So, were Trump and Xi just bullshitting here? Or, did Xi flip on Biden and the Dems, in favor of Trump? Based on how China stood down while Trump took over control of the flow of large chunks of their oil imports from Iran, I think Trump might have leverage Xi to flip on Biden and the Dems.
