Ukraine is deeply grateful to the United States for its support, and we value that President Trump President Donald J. Trump is so determined to achieve real peace. It is very important to realize all the results—political, defense, and economic—that were achieved during our meeting together with European leaders in Washington. Undoubtedly, it was a successful Summit, a demonstration of true unity between Europe and America. Ukraine, as always, is uniting the world. We value the United States’ readiness to be part of the security architecture for Ukraine, and our teams are actively working on shaping it. We expect that the key foundations of security will be defined shortly. We discussed how we can influence the Russians, compel them to engage in real negotiations, and end the war. Sanctions, tariffs—everything must remain on the agenda. We are ready to engage in a format of leaders. This is the format needed to resolve the key issues. Now, the same readiness is needed from Moscow. Military cooperation is important for both Ukraine and the United States, and there are two strong opportunities—an agreement on arms procurement and an agreement on drones that could significantly strengthen our arsenals. We are maintaining momentum in our work within PURL. This is an important instrument for procuring American equipment funded by partners, and we are now actively working on engaging additional countries. And, of course, the humanitarian track. The return of all abducted children. We strongly hope that America, President and the First Lady of the United States First Lady Melania Trump will continue to make personal efforts to bring back all children illegally abducted by Russia. We focused in detail on sanctions pressure. We understand the need for tougher restrictions on Russian energy, especially secondary sanctions targeting buyers of Russian oil. We are hopeful for progress on the bill proposed by Senators Graham and Blumenthal in the U.S. Congress. This could certainly make Russia give greater thought to peace. We discussed further defense cooperation – joint production projects and coordination for more effective protection of life. We also addressed the situation in diplomacy, aiming to channel all activity toward a dignified peace and guaranteed security. We share the same view with Türkiye: peace and security must be guaranteed. We will maintain close coordination and efforts with all partners. We are also working to restore exchanges by the New Year and bring home Ukrainian POWs, Ukrainian civilians held by Russia, and abducted Ukrainian children. Türkiye’s active involvement in the Coalition of the Willing – especially in its naval component – is also important. Everyone understands the significance of security in the Black Sea, and such security can only be ensured together with Türkiye. I am grateful to Türkiye and personally to President Erdoğan for this support. We value the trust between us and between our nations and count on the strength of Turkish diplomacy. 🇺🇦🇹🇷

I met with representatives of the American think tank Hudson Institute and informed them about the consequences of Russian strikes in recent days. In light of these attacks, it is particularly important to bolster Ukraine’s air defense, and we are grateful to the United States of America and to all caring Americans for their support of Ukraine, which we have felt throughout all the years of this full-scale Russian aggression. During the meeting, we discussed cooperation with the U.S. Congress, diplomatic work to achieve a dignified peace, and the importance of active U.S. participation in the negotiation process. We are counting on an end to the pause in the negotiations and the reinvigoration of diplomacy. This is important for saving the lives of our people and restoring security in Europe.

We are grateful to Germany for its leadership in supporting our people, especially for the Patriot systems and missiles, and IRIS-T systems – all of which are saving the lives of our people. We also spoke about further bolstering the protection of our skies. Separately, we discussed the importance of achieving a ceasefire and developing security guarantees. In recent weeks, Russia has shown no intention of being ready for a meeting at the level of leaders and has continued striking our people. Together with our partners, we supported the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war, stop the killings, and achieve a just and lasting peace. I am grateful to the partners for our shared position: the path to peace cannot be determined without Ukraine, and negotiations can only yield results if they take place under a ceasefire. I am also grateful for the active support of our state as long as Russia has not agreed to a ceasefire. I called on our partners to finance Ukrainian drone production to enhance our country’s defense capabilities and to join the new NATO PURL instrument for the procurement of U.S. weapons. During the meeting, we coordinated the next steps and agreed to continue working in close contact between Ukraine, all of Europe, and the United States. We are counting on continued funding for this initiative, which enables us to purchase missiles for air defense systems. We also addressed cooperation with partners to strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities to protect lives and the opening of joint defense ventures in Europe. I thank Mark for the meeting and for his consistent support. I am also grateful for the highly productive meeting in the Ramstein format – partners confirmed the allocation of €38 billion in military aid for Ukraine. And that is truly significant.

Ukraine’s experience in building a system to protect lives should be scaled across all of Europe, and we are ready for such a partnership. We also count on the earliest possible opening of negotiating clusters for accession to the European Union. We discussed this with Gitanas. In the first half of 2027, Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and we expect support on all issues related to our full membership. I thank Gitanas Nausėda for the meeting. I am grateful for the consistent assistance, support for the PURL initiative, and readiness to cooperate within the SAFE instrument. Today’s decision to unblock the €90 billion loan is also important.

I am grateful to the United States for its unwavering bipartisan and bicameral support. We appreciate that work continues in both chambers of the U.S. Congress to increase pressure on Russia, and we hope that Lindsey Graham’s bill on sanctions against Russia and Iran can ultimately be passed. I briefed the Senators on Russia’s ongoing ballistic missile terror. It is very important for Ukraine to have the capabilities to counter this, and implementing the decision to grant licenses for the production of Patriots could significantly help. Denmark is one of the leaders in supporting our state and is preparing the 26th package of military aid for Ukraine. This support helps save lives, and we deeply appreciate it. We also talked about the negotiations in Istanbul and the coordination of diplomatic efforts with the U.S. and European partners. We share the view that pressure on Russia is crucial if they refuse to agree to a ceasefire. In July this year, Denmark will begin its Presidency of the EU Council. We are counting on their support for Ukraine’s European integration, which we discussed during the meeting. A good and productive meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte Mark Rutte, President of the European Council António Costa António Costa, and President of the European Commission Ursula Ursula von der Leyen. I briefed the leaders on the situation on the diplomatic track. We discussed in detail our work with U.S. partners on steps toward peace, security guarantees, and strengthening our resilience. We also touched on the PURL initiative and the reparations loan. Our positions have been aligned on all issues. We are acting in a coordinated and constructive manner. We are ready to share our experience with Kenya and implement joint projects. We agreed that our teams will work out the details of possible cooperation. Together with the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska / Олена Зеленська and our team, we have arrived in New York to take part in the UN General Assembly, the first leaders’ summit of our Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, and the annual Crimea Platform Summit, which in 2025, for the first time, will be held on a global stage – underlining the global nature of the changes brought about by this war, the war that Russia began in Crimea. We remember the roots of Russian aggression. We are doing everything to stop the war. We are working to guarantee long-term security for all Ukrainian children. Support from partners is essential. And such new support will undoubtedly be the outcome of this diplomatic week. Nearly two dozen meetings are scheduled. Ahead of us are several very intense days. Ukraine must become stronger. I thank everyone who is helping.
