Views from the 24 Fire outside Fort Carson, now over 1,126 acres. The fire is making a run this afternoon. “Highway 115 remains clear and the fire made a significant run to the east and north. Air resources are working along the west flank of the fire per incident command. VCFD along with LA County Fire and CAL FIRE are on scene of a brush fire south of the 126 FWY, east of Piru. The fire is currently reported at 50 acres with a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels and located in steep terrain with difficult access. Firefighters are aggressively working from the air and ground to attack the fire. Multiple fixed wing aircraft and helicopters are assigned to the incident along with over 100 firefighters assigned to the incident. Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas east of Lake Piru to the Los Angeles County line. Residents are encouraged to follow for the latest updates on evacuations.

This footage shows the size, scale, and severity of the Fire weather event that took place on the Deer Creek Fire in La Sal, Utah. One individual said they believed a skid plate off a Toyota Tacoma was hurled and hit their fire apparatus. The shear size and velocity of this vortex that came through the fire area is staggering. This is Mother Nature at her most unpredictable and awe inspiring state. All while wildfire is ripping across the landscape. The fire has grown to 11,044 acres and firefighters have been able to reach 7% containment after regrouping post wind event. This will be the last update from the Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team for the #Widemouth2Fire. The NUIMT Incident Commander trainee Lucas Yeamans said it best at tonight's meeting "We were fully supported here. Especially dealing with incidents like this, we empathize with you. We did the best we could to minimize the impact to you and have genuine concern for you. This community is as unique as this fire. The experience we had here isn’t what we experience every fire we go to. Your elected officials, your community leaders, your Sheriff's department, your local fire department, your state and county resources, your federal land management leaders, have all been amazing. It has been incredibly impressive to see how they work together, to see their commitment, and to see their effort. You can see their concern and their dedication. And, on behalf of the NUIMT, we were proud to be a part of that effort. We applaud you for having such a strong community, with such great leaders. We were honored to serve you, and want to say thank you." Aug 3, Fire behavior update: As of this evening the #Widemouth2Fire crews have made great progress holding the fire outside the communities of Kanosh, Meadow, and Fillmore. The western edge of the fire near Kanosh has minimal heat within most of the interior of the fire. Everything from Kanosh to Meadow is holding well. Crews will continue to secure this perimeter to get residents back in as quickly as possible. From Meadow to Fillmore, there is some heat within the line. This area experienced some spotting, but firefighters were able to catch them all thus far. From Chalk Creek Canyon and east, crews were able to construct dozer line and laid retardant line to enhance the efforts, and were able to hold the fire in the canyon. The east side is growing too quickly to go direct. Firefighters spent the day scouting and doing structure protection. Another focus was establishing safety zones and escape routes. But were unable to directly engage because of the pace of the fire. This evening the fire did reach Sevier County in its push eastward. The southwest corner experienced spotting due to northwest winds. Crews were able to pick them up and stop forward progression of the spots. Southwest of Kanosh, firefighters worked diligently to hold the current perimeter. Once the fire hit the ridge, it made a quick run. An incredible view of firing Ops on the Iron Fire in Utah. Crews continue to build containment and completed a burn the western flank yesterday, but fire weather and winds continue to be problematic. Fire managers and crews continue to asses direct and indirect options moving forward. Additional firing ops took place last night on the eastern flanks, working to tie it in just north of Highway 6. Extreme fire weather is expected in the coming days, and contingency plans are also being worked on in case it jumps the highway. The fire is now 37,170 acres and 17% contained. The Cottonwood Fire has been updated to 61,137 acres, and resources continue to work towards containment, and are busy constructing firelines. #SandyFire update - Ventura County firefighters and our mutual aid partners continue aggressive suppression efforts on the Sandy Fire south of Simi Valley. Crews are actively working to strengthen containment lines and hold the fire along the southern and eastern portions of the incident while aircraft support ground operations in steep and difficult terrain. #autofire; The Auto Fire is now at 50% containment and 61 acres. Overnight, firefighter addresses small, isolated flare ups and stubborn pockets of heat across the fire perimeter. The fire remains static in its original footprint with no anticipated growth. Today, firefighters continue patrolling and reinforcing containment lines as well as addressing deep seated smoldering brush piles well inside the perimeter. Resources from VCFD and Ventura City Fire include Type 3 and Type 6 engines, a hand crew, water tender and one of our UAS / Drone pilots. Firefighters will remain on scene until this fire is fully contained. An IR flight of the fire by one of our UAS / Drone pilots shows the pockets of heat firefighters are working to address. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

These crews are putting in long hours, working through challenging conditions, and doing what they do best.🔥 As of Saturday evening, the fire has reached approximately 90,000 acres and is 31% contained. There is still a long road ahead. The #Widemouth2Fire has been pushing north towards Fillmore, UT since last night. The fire is currently mapped at 36,438 acres, but has grown since then that mapping mission. With the predicted wind, the fire will likely continue to grow north and northeast. Strong winds are expected to remain active throughout the night. Crews remain fully engaged and are aggressively working to suppress the head of this fire. Fire managers are working continuously with the Sheriff on changing conditions and evacuation needs. On the perimeter east of Meadow, the fire continues to progress towards the ridge, but has not crested yet towards I-70. Crews are scouting around I-70 beyond that existing fire front, to make a strategic plan for future suppression activities. Due to the inaccessibility of the area, and changing wind conditions, no crews have been inserted yet on the eastern side. Crews continue to secure and hold the south and southwestern perimeter of the fire, south of Kanosh, UT. Thus far, these edges are holding with very little heat and growth. There are still some internal smokes with potential for spotting, so firefighters are working diligently to mop up well within the perimeter to avoid any slop overs or spotting. Residents are asked to stay close to their phones for evacuation changes. Any changes will be sent out on an alter to phones and homes within the perimeter of the evacuation zones. MUTLI AGENCY operation after huge blaze rips through derlict mill in #Leeds as both West & North Yorkshire fire crews battle flames. Added disruption is caused to this incident, due to the road closures of Armley Gyratory until 0600 on Monday. Fire appliances from across West Yorkshire and support from North Yorkshire have attended the Maurice Mills, which form part of the Canal Mills in #Armley this morning. Initial calls at just after 5am reported fire coming from the building, next to Castleton Mill on Brandon Street. At its height, 12 appliances were at the scene including the command unit, aerial appliances, hose layers and the High Volume pumps, which carried water from the nearby canal to the incident. West Yorkshire Fire said; “Firefighters were called to a building fire at Canal Mills, Armley just after 5am this morning (28 July). “We currently have 12 fire engines and two aerial appliances at this incident. “This is a derelict single storey building - approximately 50m x 50m, 75% involved in fire. Fire crews are currently using 2 large jets and 2 aerial appliances to tackle the fire.”

Seattle fire crews are responding to reports of a commercial building on fire in the 800 block of NW 42nd St, in Fremont, where firefighters on scene have reported a working fire. Next door, the Cloudrest Fire is 2,629 acres and 12% contained as crews conduct defensive firing operations ahead of expected heavy rains. Last Thursday, #CALFIRELNU Dozer 1449 helped stop the #GeldingFire near Angels Camp in Calaveras County at just 3.2 acres. The dozers, engines and helicopter quickly went to work, constructing fire line around the perimeter and extinguishing flames to keep the fire from spreading. Dozer 1449, based at Station 37 in Brooks (Yolo County), is assigned to CALFIRE TCU as part of Dozer Strike Team 9140L. The strike team deployed to the #GunnFire on Aug. 3, and their proximity to the Gelding Fire allowed Dozer 1449 to respond immediately on initial dispatch. A great example of how strategically positioned resources can make a difference on initial attack. #CALFIRE #CALFIRELNU #DozerStrikeTeam

Fire activity has increased exponentially on the north side of the #Widemouth2Fire. Based on a flyover, the fire is approximately 10,300 acres. The flareups that occurred earlier spotted over the north line and northeast line, closest to Turkey Track Lane and Cemetery Road. Fire is also pushing north to Highway 91. Everything south of 300 S is in GO evacuation status. The sheriff's office went door to door evacuating residents. Highway 133 is closed at the Kanosh city perimeter, except to residents. Highway 91 is closed to I-15. The fire has crossed Kanosh Canyon and established on the north side of the canyon. It's making a fast push northward, along the forest boundary. The IMT and sheriff are in discussions on further evacuations based on changing fire conditions. Fire behavior is extreme, with long distance spotting. This threat is real to the evacuated areas. We will have no weather reprieve, and the winds area predicted to continue from the south throughout the night. We will keep crews engaged with both aggressive fire suppression, as well as structure protection, throughout the night. More resources are on their way to assist, both ground and air support. Based on current fire behavior, the Millard County Sheriff's Office upgraded the evacuation levels: 🔴️Turkey Track Lane and Cemetery Road, and residents south of 300 S. are in "GO" status 🟡 The town of Kanosh north of 300 S. is in "SET" The spring feeding the city has been shut down. We're asking the residents to conserve water to avoid depleting the city tanks. Please follow all evacuation recommendations. Everyone except residents should avoid the Kanosh area to alleviate traffic, as residents evacuate and more fire traffic arrives to assist. We will continue to post updates on the emerging situation.
