Stone Canyon Fire Update: Fire Incident Commander Nathan Hallam reported that the Stone Canyon Fire is at 1,553 acres with 30% containment along the east and southeast corner as of 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 1. Crews continue to work on securing the fire perimeter.

As of Monday, March 11th at 1:30 pm the fire is at 640 acres with 90% containment. One CSFD brush truck will remain at the fire scene to patrol for hotspots. Fire crews are confident that the containment line will hold. Crews are working on the North edge to keep the fire from flanking around the Kane Fire burn scar from 2023. On the southwest they are hoping to see reduced spread due to the 2003 Poplar Fire burn scar. 🚨 Tucson Fire was dispatched to a dumpster fire at 1750 North Sabino Canyon Road at 6:09 this evening. Engine 9 arrived five minutes later and reported heavy, black smoke in the area and discovered a large fuel tank on fire near a private landfill. The call was updated to a HAZMAT response and nearby Udall Park was evacuated as a precaution due to the location of the fire. Crews faced challenges extinguishing this fire because of the location and nearby electrical equipment. The fire was called under control at 7:49 and crews were able to contain damage to the area. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
