The world's first light rail line over a floating bridge is inadvertently killing fish in Lake Washington, and now Sound Transit is scrambling to find a solution. It's unclear how many fish have died and how long the problem has existed since the Crosslake Connection first opened on March... show more

Nothing a tax hike won't fix. Seriously these people are clowns.

Higher taxes will help.

If only people had predicted this ... because people did. @SoundTransit is an endless scam. On this project, their engineers FORGOT to account for water sloshing! Their models had water going straight up & down in storms. It wasn't discovered until the bridge was largely built.

Just pay the tribes a few billion. That should stop all the dying fish.

The most incompetent leadership of any big city has to be Seattle, and what is even worse the people keep voting in the same people which says a lot about them.

Democrats suddenly find a reason to do an environmental impact statement on something that is killing fish near Highway 520. But, they'll allow anyone to erect thousands of wind turbines knowing full well they're killing THOUSANDS of raptor birds annually. Such hypocrites.

For a minute… I thought this was some fake California BS about dumb fish. Oh wait! This is in WA… same smell….

@gramFarrar Another sound transit failure.

Dow is 100 percent corrupt !

Total for Dow Constantine telling us about the fish.... On that base/regular-pay basis, the 2016–2025 period comes to approximately: 👉🏽$2.65 MILLION - must be GOLD FISH.... That's before counting benefits, retirement contributions and other compensation. And now he's at: $474,276/year base salary plus potential performance compensation and retirement benefits at Sound Transit. His original 2025 Sound Transit contract started at $450,000, with a potential $30,000 performance award and additional salary increases. One important caveat: 2024 and 2025 need to be treated differently from the older payroll years because the readily available sources give us the annual salary rate and contract rather than a comparable finalized payroll record. So $2.65M is a salary-based reconstruction, not a claim that $2.65M is his exact cash compensation including benefits. And the jump is pretty stark: $222K in 2016 → $474K current base salary — more than double.

So are they going to shut it down? They would literally shut down ANYONE else who was killing fish

Did you include the fact that Sound Transit was warned about this yet claimed it wouldn't have a "significant effect" on fish?

Isn’t that just like the Demtards Sell it to the public as a clean form of transportation, run $billions over budget & destroy nature Great job What’s next? Declare WA a sanctuary for criminals?

you'd think with all the millions of taxpayer dollars going to surveys and environmental permits they'd have realized that this would kill fish?... what good is giving all that money to consultants if they can't even foresee that electricity kills wildlife?

Given, how over the top Seattle is with all this green crap. This is kind of funny…

This seems…fishy. The current story is a bunch of fish were killed by a well intentioned mass transit agency with a history of failures and a whale of cost overruns. I don’t know, it seems like the news story is dredging up a lot of smelly carcasses with this reporting. I’ll be shocked if the agency isn’t responsible…..probably not as shocked as the fish though.

Why do we need a light rail line over a floating bridge.when autonomous vehicles are being produced in volume?

Part of the climate scamdemic....move along, nothing to see here!! Guaranteed, we the people, will pick up the tab...the perfect Ponzi like only Washington can eh side show?? @BobFergusonGov

So what’s the point of YEARS of environmental “studies” and delays if in the end the fish die anyways.

No, this is another fictitious problem so Sound Transit can grift more money from WA citizens to give to unelected and unaccountable NGOs, to do 'research' of the 'problem, that turn around a donate to Democrat campaigns. Corruption is massive in WA.

What could possibly go wrong when using electricity in a body of water

Drug encampments are also killing fish and destroying the environment

They should have done this type of research before the launched the system here. It’s possible they knew, and did it anyway.

The private citizen can’t even build a shack without environmental studies, but government free of the same rules it applies to others.

Translate: we need more money from taxpayers!

Dems: if the wealth would just pay their fair share (~110% of all wealth and income), we could save these fish with a new overbudget bridge that doesn't help fish, traffic, or go to any location we promised it would. Only need 110% so we are not asking for too much.

Curious if the Muckleshoot Tribe has issued a statement about their fish getting electrocuted in their sovereign territory...

Proof that a DIESEL powered train would be BETTER for the environment

Transit kills

Are these the same engineers that cost us another 250M, because their original plans didn't take into account that water MOVES in more then ONE direction?

Sadly Dow Constantine is on it so we shouldn’t hold out much hope

Now we’ll be charged more car tag charges to fix their mistake! Not to mention KILLING OUR FISH.

I’m just about done with this damn state and its stupid ideas. There isn’t a sane one to be found.

Wow how amazing
