Even as a kid I knew once you broke up, forget about it, separate I can't believe I was smarter as a 13 year old than adults now.
Unless you have a child/ children with them. Before children, I broke all contact and couldn't understand why anyone would want to stay in touch with an ex

💯% correct. It's not easy, you're miserable a lot yet moving forward. Unless you have a child with the other person then you're forever connected.
