Punch is a target and much more susceptible to being attacked which we have been watching all week. The other monkeys have their mother and family’s protection. Punch had his dad a few minutes a day. It brings him comfort. The zoo has decided his dads are to have no contact with them. It’s deplorable and cruel.

Surprisingly, both caretakers were present on duty, which means the claim that “one of them stays inside with him in the backyard” is not true. He was most likely locked outside with other monkeys. At 12:04, when Punch-kun finally returned to the enclosure, he immediately started eating. This shows he was not given his full meal while he was inside. It seems the main reason for taking him in is to separate him from the keepers, not just to feed him.
