holy shit!! scientists just discovered that these bees are playing the shit out of their toys! we’re not sure why exactly they do this, but the leading theory at this time is that aggressive/high intensity play acts as a means of relieving stress during the spring and summer, when hive activity is at its peak (long bee hours, nagging bee wife, etc…) do you think this could be applied to our more complex human lives? let us know in the comments!

Though this video might not look like much, it shows something pretty remarkable. This footage, which we captured this past September on the Kabetogama Peninsula, is the first confirmed observation of lynx kittens in Voyageurs National Park (and one of only a few observations of known lynx reproduction in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem). Although lynx have been observed/documented in the park sporadically for several decades, there has never been evidence of kittens in the park (i.e., a breeding population of lynx). As a result, most lynx in and around Voyageurs are likely transitory individuals (predominantly males) roaming large area. From 2000 to 2004, biologists with the National Park Service made a concerted effort to study lynx in the park. They only documented the presence of one male and one female, and concluded “lynx were either transient or present at a low density”. Another study from 2007-2008 in and around Voyageurs National Park using trail cameras and snow tracking did not detect the presence of lynx. However, they noted that there were some sightings of lynx outside of the park with one unconfirmed report of a female lynx with a kitten observed to the west of the park. The researchers concluded that “even though patches of high-density snowshoe hare habitat exist in the Voyageurs National Park area, the low density of snowshoe hares at the landscape level would not support resident lynx”. Based on this research and some subsequent work, researchers with the park concluded in 2015 “it does not appear that there are currently resident lynx”. In fact, the researchers in 2012 concluded: ‘only three confirmed observations of adult lynx have occurred within the boundaries of VNP since 2001”. Obviously, studying these elusive animals in places like Voyageurs has historically been difficult because trail camera technology was not what it is today (or did not exist). However, trail cameras have provided a great tool to observe and understand lynx in places like Voyageurs. Skip forward to today: we now routinely get numerous observations of lynx each year in Voyageurs National Park as well as outside the park. Many observations are likely of the same few individuals wandering around, though, based on physical appearances, it seems we are capturing observations of more than 1 or 2 lynx. That said, in general, our trail camera data generally supports the conclusions of the Voyageurs National Park researchers. Most lynx likely are transient individuals, and certainly lynx are at low densities in and around Voyageurs. Nonetheless, this observation of a lynx with two kittens shows that lynx can reproduce in this area, though such occurrences are likely rare. One observation of reproduction is not evidence of a self-sustaining resident population but it suggests it might be possible. Anyway, this finding just highlights how our trail cameras, which are deployed to study wolves, simultaneously capture rare and valuable data on other wildlife species that have been traditionally difficult to study. Is there any real "due diligence" done by the 🅰️people? All of their points seem empty, vague, and very handwavy, at least that's the feeling I get. It seems to be confirmed when it comes down to the facts, they try to apply that same vague speculatory mindset they use regarding Starlink, arriving at a conclusion that always seems to be wrong. How many guesses have been propagated as truth? How many small differences have been exaggerated so large that they become the very core of their position? Probably a lot, because the trend I see is to take a kernel of truth and cover it with heavy layers of lies and speculation. I like what ASTS is doing, but the community makes it pretty hard to know what's actually significant, and the truth is, it's pretty hard to tell until both constellations are built and delivering data to customers. The issue is that most of them likely have a huge amount of money riding on the company, so they'll take anything and go with it solely for the comfort factor.

Ok, I’m going to put it out there. IMO, Lesser/Common Knapweed is THE BEST all round #wildflower for high summer in terms of longevity of flower, abundance of insects that will use it for #nectar/pollen, drought tolerance & ability to grow in many soil types & light conditions 🐝 This one clump had at least 5 Gatekeepers, 2/3 Meadow Browns and many species of Bees all visiting at once! 😍💚

+113k No words can describe the month that I had to be honest and all I can thank is God and the relations that I have made. To say that 3 months ago I went from -3k -> 5.6k -> 23k to now is just so amazing for me. Im happy with the turnout of every single day as well as I can't thank 67FnF anymore and all the boys that are in there 30-1 pretty damn happy and my 1 off day is the day after I ended a 4-year relationship so i'm happy to say I kept my head down and kept grinding. To 2026, i'm happy to be in the circle I am and good luck to everyone in this Q1 Cycle!

But the timelines don’t match: the Arctic had tropical forests millions of years after Pangaea already broke apart, and Antarctica shows warm-climate fossils from periods when it was supposedly frozen at the South Pole. These aren’t ancient leftovers, they're evidence of fast crustal displacement. Admit that, and you admit a pole shift, a planetary snap, a global reset. The moment you accept tropical life at the poles, you must accept that the tropics became unlivable and the Earth flipped. Time will tell. These predictions of doom do far more to undermine the public's trust in science than build it.

That competitive spirit won’t stop. And with a guy like that, I know he’s going to bring it. It’s going to be fun.”

Did you know that babies cry with an accent? This week I’ll be focusing on language acquisition during infancy. Yesterday we talked about how newborns enter the world already recognizing the distinct tones of their mothers’ voices, as well as the rhythms and patterns of what will become their native language. And that recognition is not only receptive (the language we hear and understand), but expressive (the language we speak). Which leads us to crying with accent. A study that compared the cries of French and German infants identified distinct patterns their cries - measured as early as the day after their births - that mirror the unique melodies (or prosody) of their native languages. The French infants ended their cries with a lilt that mirrored French, while German infants began their cries with intensity then dropped off at the end, mirroring the vocalizations of their German parents. It’s still more evidence that some basic forms of language learning are influenced by children’s experience (learning) in utero. When it comes to our earliest vocalizations, newborns rely heavily on cries - which often tend to be a bit screechier than they will become in time - alongside gurgles, grunts and squeaks (like those shown in the video here.) But in just a matter of weeks these basic sounds make way for a much broader array of vocalizations. We’ll look at a few of those tomorrow. This new arrival was shared to TT by
