Candace Owens and Marc Lamont Hill Debate Whether Transgender Pronouns Should Be Honoured Marc Lamont Hill: If I told you my pronouns were "she, her," you would address me as "she and her," right? Candace Owens: No, I wouldn't. I would call you Marc. Marc Lamont Hill: But if I said my name was Jane, would you call me Jane? Candace Owens: If that was your legal name, yes. But I'm not going to change these established pronouns for male and female. Marc Lamont Hill: This isn't a case of someone thinking they're something they're not. What people are saying is there is a misalignment between my sex and my gender. Candace Owens: Disorder. My mind and my body don't match, that's a disorder. Marc Lamont Hill: That doesn't make it a disorder. It means the world may be more diverse than we've previously understood it to be. If someone says, "I prefer to be called she and her, and I no longer want to be identified by this name," why not just honour that? Candace Owens: If you changed your name, I will honour it. But if you're asking me to change pronouns, I'm not going to do that. These are established pronouns. You're asking me to change the English language. We know why we call female "she," "her," "girl," "woman." These are words that have meanings. If this mug wants to be called a book it's a mug. You're asking me to change the actual meaning of words to accommodate you. I'm not going to do that. Marc Lamont Hill: The argument of the trans community is not, "I'm actually a man, but I want you to pretend I'm a woman." The argument is, "No, I am a woman, and so I want you to affirm me as Candace Owens: But you're not a woman. That's the problem. Just because you think something doesn't make it real. Marc Lamont Hill: But that's exactly what gender is. Gender is about an experience, a performance, and a social construct. Candace Owens: It's not a social construct. Stop saying social construct. You say words don't have meaning and they're socially constructed, but then our entire discussion about Black America meant nothing. There's no such thing as racial injustice because Black is a social construct. Marc Lamont Hill: Yeah, but we live in a social reality. Candace Owens: You can't have both, Marc.

I’m on a train right now heading to central London and almost everyone on here is white. I’ve noticed that every time I’m on a commuter train at crack of dawn in the morning, there are almost only white people commuting to work. Every time I walk across London Bridge in the morning rush hour, almost everyone is white. The rest of the day, white people are a tiny minority in London. I can’t imagine why that would be.

"The influence we ascribe to environment is particularly true of an intellectual environment," he wrote. "Each of us is conditioned by an idea. There are far fewer ideas than men, therefore, all men with similar ideas are alike." How different were the ideas that animated 1920s Paris, and those that drive the 2020s on Earth? And in what ways are those ideas making life today happier—and worse?

An international student on a work permit which is going to expire soon blames Canada for the fact that she's going to have to leave despite the fact that no such guarantee is made to students or temporary workers. I should know because I came to Canada as an international student nearly 30 years ago. She and her friends are now exploring ways of how they can stay on in Canada, including applying for refugee status which will be tied up for years while their case is decided. Our immigration minister Marc Miller ᐅᑭᒫᐃᐧᐅᓃᐸᐄᐧᐤᐃᔨᐣ Mikotsikaa naively believes those whose permits are expiring are going to leave Canada voluntarily which is a joke. He should watch this video. The sense of entitlement of some of these people is astonishing. She doesn't have a legal right to stay on in Canada beyond the date her current permit expires and if she refuses to leave, she should be deported. These people are playing on white guilt, the easiest thing to exploit in Canada where people are generally naive and think everyone is well intentioned.

He calls her a bitch and she loses it, knocks the phone right out of his hand, and it almost turns into a full fight right there in the middle of the train car. Then other people start getting involved in the argument like they’ve got nothing better to do. These trains are pure chaos every single day.
