Temporary Indian students in Calgary are staging a so-called “hunger strike” after being refused post-graduation work permits. They entered Canada on study permits for programs that were never eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), paid high international tuition, and expected it would lead to staying permanently. Now that those applications have been refused, they’re demanding to remain. When a work permit is refused, maintained status ends. They lose the legal right to work and have a limited period to either restore their status or leave Canada. A temporary permit is exactly that: temporary. A student visa is a temporary document to study in Canada. That was always understood. Our universities and colleges were built by Alberta taxpayers, first and foremost for Alberta students. Where there is room for international students, the terms are simple. Earn your education, then return home to build a life with it. Rules are what make a fair system fair and our country needs to return to an immigration process that respects the rules.

This Pastor gives one of the best explanations on why our borders shouldn’t be open and why people need to pledge allegiance to our country. “You know why the borders should not be open?….The reason the borders need to be closed is because when you come into a sovereign nation and you don’t pledge your allegiance, it’s treasonous. She says it’s “dehumanizing” to use the term illegal alien. No, it’s a legal distinction. It describes a foreign national who is in the country unlawfully. That’s it. We shouldn’t change reality to fit her and other’s feelings. There is a clear difference between legal and illegal immigration, and pretending there isn’t doesn’t make us more compassionate.

If you want to come here, apply legally and then we can decide whether you’re going to add benefit to your society. And if we don’t think you are, don’t come here. So, you know, stay at home. I believe in sovereign borders. You can’t tell me that someone who illegally walked across our border, broke our laws, and skipped the line should be granted amnesty and citizenship? Just like that? That’s wrong. President Trump proved something important: we didn’t need new laws, we needed a new president. Once leadership changed, the border started getting cleaned up. Imagine that. A noncitizen on an expired visa was able to get her nursing license approved in Maine - The woman entered our country on May 14, 2024 - The visa was set to expire on November 13, 2024 - She failed to deport before this date, now in violation of our immigration laws - She was still working as a nurse on an expired visa How was a noncitizen on an expired visa working as a nurse… She had a pending asylum application but it hadn’t been granted.
