We should never blame an entire religion for the actions of extremist groups. The holy book of Quran is very clear ‘Whoever kills an innocent person, it is as if he has killed all of humanity.’ (5:32) The threat we are facing is not Islam or Muslims. It is violent extremist groups that hijack religion to justify terror. These groups target civilians, women, minorities, and very often Muslims themselves. The Prophet Muhammad also forbade the killing of civilians. So these terrorists are not defending Islam. They are violating it. Some people think helping others practice Islam in a balanced way is the same as watering it down. For certain fundamentalists, an easy ruling is treated like a sin. Real wisdom is not compromise. It is bringing people closer to Allah in a way that inspires growth without burnout. Islam itself is not the problem. The problem lies in harsh interpretations that push people away, when the deen was always meant to be lived with mercy, balance, and sustainability. Yes, parts of the religion may feel difficult, because true faith sometimes requires sacrifice and struggle. But difficulty is not the same as harshness nor will it always feel that way. And always remember wisdom is not the same as following our whims. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Make things easy for the people and do not make things difficult for them.” (Bukhari and Muslim). That is the balance of Islam: a path that challenges the ego, yet uplifts the soul, a faith of mercy that brings hearts back to Allah.
