The Bible does not endorse slavery. The Bible does acknowledge the depravity of mankind. That is also a central theme of the Constitution of why power must be checked. Only dictators would seek to gut the First Amendment. You cannot amend away the First Amendment and still have America, the Constitution, or liberty.

The word עבד (eved) carries the connotation of serving someone. “Eved” can be translated as servant, bondservant, slave, worker, companion, ambassador, delegate, and many other English words. The modern Oxford definition of a slave is: “a person who is forced to work for and obey another and is considered to be their property.” …And God had certain rules for how long you could actually serve someone to pay off a debt .. The biblical laws were the only set of rules in the world at that time that liberated people.. to see this garbage completely is void of understanding the times they lived in and history ..

There is no possibility that the Bible approve slavery in 10 Commandments. Moses fought against slavery and led children of Israel to freedom. I have no doubt that there is translational or interpretational distortion in the Biblical verses. I have refuted similar distortions made by Sunni/Shiite clergyman in the translations and commentaries of the Quran. See our translation: Quran: a Reformist Translation. Ps: Similarly “stoning to death” punishment too is another distortion.

How is "you shall not covet your neighbour's slaves" an ENDORSEMENT of slavery? Regardless of how you unpack some of the content of the Law, keep in mind that in Mark 10:5 Jesus made commentary on divorce saying that this aspect of the law existed because of the hardness of our hearts. Not unreasonable to think that slavery and the laws around it exists because of the hardness of our hearts and not because it was part of God's original design for Creation and mankind.

There is not a single apology for slavery in the NT, so if you are going to talk about the Bible, you have to look at both the Old and NT.
