MY THOUGHTS: I agree, a ceasefire will benefit Hamas and may make it harder for Israel to eliminate the group. However, I don't think there is any scenario where Hamas will survive this war. In my opinion, their end is inevitable. With this in mind, Israel's goal is no longer simply 'eliminating Hamas', but instead 'eliminating Hamas with the least civilian casualties'. If a ceasefire allows more aid to arrive to those in need, allows people time to flee to the South, and maybe allows for camps be set up for the displaced, then a temporary ceasefire is the right thing to do.
