As much as I love Jackie as a director, nobody beats Sammo for action direction. You never get lost in the movement, you know exactly where they are and it flows beautifully.

You could throw a dart at basically any Sammo film until maybe 1992 and there’ll be atleast one fight that’s a 10/10–even films with barely any action like Ghost Punting or Shanghai Shanghai. The ONLY time i’ve been disappointed by a Sammo film was How To Meet The Lucky Stars

One of the small details I’ve grown to love about these fights is after the barrage of kicks, punches, blocks they reset then get back in it. Even the pacing of the choreography when it’s fast then slows down to let it breath the pick it back up.
