Smart from Hawks I thought. Put the umpires in a position to make a call early, the umpires didn’t and the Hawks played to that standard of the whistle all night. Smart footy

Hard to say the standard was consistent

Lot easier for an umpire to call a free if one person is slapping an arm and the other is trying to get away. Not defending umpires but a lot of the Freo contests were mutual wrestles, slight nudges. This is a lot easier call I’d say

Amiss was held by Barrass. No free. Sicily pushed them in the back all night. no free. Treacy bumped sicilly in the side. Free kick. Umps were a disgrace.

This is basically how Darcy and Naughton are treated by every opposition every game and they almost never call a free kick on them. "Smart" of the coach and team, "gutless" of the umpires and the league.

This is spot on! Hawks pushed the boundaries and probably recognized that in finals you can get away with more borderline acts. But there should have been a few push in the backs (and holding and arm chops) paid to stop it happening at every contest.

Agree, umps set the standard early, that the action was acceptable. Hawks defenders lapped it up; our forwards didn't.

Sicily is best in comp for pushing playing in the back and out of the contest. Often does it so early that the player in front haven’t set their feet.
