During the construction of the new Azeempura Flyover, old neem trees were exposed due to the construction. KMC parks department is transplanting those trees at the new green zone which is being developed along the loop of Shah Faisal Flyover. All these old indigenous trees are part of our city heritage 🙌

Tourists from Punjab were plucking apricots as well as branches from trees in district. They Started quarreling with locals when prohibited. Remembered the source of income for the residents here are these trees, from which we get fruit for one month in a year & we protect

The price of imported artificial Christmas trees is up because the majority of them are made in Asia and are subject to tariffs introduced by President Trump earlier this year. However, the prices for real trees are holding steady this holiday season. CBS News' Omar Villafranca visited a farm that's hoping more people pick family-grown trees this season.

ALERT: Outrage as an elementary school removes 50-year-old trees from “Tree City USA,” and local residents are wondering, “Where will the birds live?” Del Mar Elementary School in Morro Bay, California, has been the center of controversy as the school cuts down 14 trees to make room for 2 new preschool classrooms. Community members gathered for a “grief and grievance” ceremony at a church across the street, and Betty Winholtz said, “I mean, we’re a bird city; where would the birds live? They live in the trees.” The school has an agreement to plant 30 new trees on a different part of the school grounds in an effort to double the number of trees removed.

Intense heatwave and Chandigarh on a tree cutting spree. When the entire country is advised how to protect themselves from #Heatwave. Ridiculously ridiculous. There wasn’t the need to cut these trees. These trees are not obstruction . The road is wide enough. Cycle track is already there. These trees were guy grown Eucalyptus trees. Somehow I am seeing eucalyptus trees are the ones being cut all over Chandigarh, in Panjab University, Sector 9 , last year in sector 7 as well. The cost of eucalyptus timber generally ranges from ₹400 to ₹900 per cubic foot depending on the region and wood quality. For bulk quantities or industrial use (e.g., pulp, poles, or firewood), it typically costs between ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 per metric tonne. Why just eucalyptus? Idea is to save trees not cut them Manish Tewari Congress AAPChandigarh Lung Care Foundation

In Maharashtra, the Kumbh Mela will take place in Nashik. To provide accommodation for the sadhus and mahants coming for the event, a “Sadhugram” is planned. But for this, nearly 1,700 trees will be cut, many of them 40 to 50 years old. The Kumbh Mela will last only for a month. Is it really necessary to cut such old and valuable trees for something so temporary? Today, very few people plant trees and take care of them, so why remove the ones we already have? After all, the sadhus can sit in the shade of these very trees. This is something we should seriously think CMO Maharashtra

Georgians burn Christmas trees to bid farewell to the old year In central Georgia, locals follow an ancient tradition of burning decorative Christmas trees — chichilaki. The ritual symbolises saying goodbye to the old year and welcoming the new one with hope and “cleansing”. Chichilaki are made from dried branches of walnut or hazel trees. They are traditionally placed in homes for Georgian Orthodox Christmas, celebrated on January 7. After the holidays end, chichilaki are ritually burned on Epiphany — January 19. It is believed that the fire carries away the misfortunes and troubles of the past year.

There is an epidemic of young Black people being found hanging from trees across America. At least 22 found dead under suspicion hunting in the last 2 years, with 7 being in 2026 alone. Public health experts, local police departments and medical examiners are all ruling the vast majority of these deaths as suicides.
