The NT is one of the most historically documented and accurate manuscripts ever. Thanks to the Dead Sea Scrolls, we know the OT is also. We know Israel was taken captive the first time because they ignored the warnings of the Prophets. The destruction of the Temple in 72 AD occurred as Jesus warned because they rejected Christ when he arrived. The secular nation of Israel is like any other nation in this world (including the US). It is a system of this world that is to be invaded (without violence) by the gospel. Politically, one can make the case that the US should support Israel, as it is the only democratic form of government in the Middle East. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be criticized.
