This happened in my son’s school during the Olympics protests. 2 out of over 100 kids decided to sit in protest like their unpatriotic heroes. No one said a word. No one ostracized them. They went home and complained to their liberal AF parents that they were the only 2 who sat (this is a private school with about a 20% active duty military enrollment). The parents called the school to say their kids felt singled out. Headmaster cut out the pledge and flag ceremony. Headmaster ended up fired. The parents had taught their little darlings that if you CHOOSE a behavior that makes you feel different or uncomfortable, you can demand everyone else bow down to soothe your hurt feelings. If you want to express your opinion fine, we have the right to express ours. Pledge and flag ceremony resumed.
