Great, but how do I pay my rent? I have four contracts and they all end in June, I am not classed as 'real staff' so don't get sick pay or redeployment, let alone any other benefits, and on top of this I'm supposed to get my PhD finished. What win do I get to celebrate?

Hi Jenna, If members want to continue and escalate action that is exactly what we'll do. Please vote YES in the reballot and help drive turnout. And make sure you have your say in the e-ballot. #ucuRISING

Great but I've had to opt out of my pension because our pay is so low and hasn't improved in years. Why are we voting again when the members made it clear in the last ballot we didn't want to back down on pay?

Dear @ucu, thank you for the hard work & reminder about the e-vote. Please send me written analysis of the current negotiations for me to carefully consider my decision. Podcast and its transcript do not count. Also, it’s not ethical to present poorly written Qs in a survey.

There’s a disturbing contrast between the 2 weeks that UCEA had to consult with its members after ‘the pause’ and the misleadingly worded & rushed 48 hour e-ballot that the UCU is pushing. Rather than a real consultation it seems like a pre-determined deal cooked up in conclave.

Hi David, This is an e-ballot for members to say whether or not they want to be consulted prior to HEC meeting. A formal consultation will not be 48hrs long

In terms of the timing, UCEA have played the UCU like a fiddle. The pause made many of us hope real progress had been made; then negotiations are concluded the same day the strike restarts and you send a misleading e-ballot question to members with 2 different propositions. 1/

No we haven’t.

No we still have not. You agreed to "prioritise the improvement of benefits", "commited to work together re evaluations", and "work together on a constructive dialogue with the Pensions Regulator (tPR) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)". Hardly a "win".. :(
