American filmmaker David Lynch said multiple times that Billy Wilder's classic film noir “Sunset Boulevard” (1950) is one of the films that shaped his artistic vision more than any other. When he said “I want a dream when I go to a film. Sunset Boulevard has that dream world for me”, he wasn’t just praising Billy Wilder — he was describing the foundation of his own cinema. In Wilder’s world, Lynch found that suspended space between reality and vision that would define his films: a decaying Hollywood, hypnotic atmospheres, characters trapped in their own illusions, and above all that “dream feeling” constantly slipping into nightmare. It’s impossible not to see the echoes of “Sunset Boulevard” in Mulholland Drive: the same contrast between glamour and darkness, between Hollywood’s golden promise and its shadows. For Lynch, Wilder had already opened the door to a dreamlike, unsettling dimension — he simply pushed it further. Rewatching “Sunset Boulevard” through Lynch’s eyes reveals how deeply the film influenced a whole generation of directors who turned dreams into cinema, and cinema into a dream.

I encouraged every one of them to look into the camera and explain to their sisters, daughters, and granddaughters why they are okay with their rights being STOLEN by a man dressed up as a girl.

A final compilation of the mob attacks on Delhi Police at around 1:30 PM yesterday. The mob that joined the CJP protest on 20 July & remained on Sansad Marg and Tolstoy Road every day was merciless. Frontline Delhi Police personnel showed extraordinary restraint. Even after several senior officers were brutally attacked, they continued to follow orders, and the mob was still not dealt with more forcefully. Hoping that those who destroyed public property at Connaught Place on 20 July and attacked and attempted to lynch police personnel between 20 and 25 July will be identified and punished. David Lynch on why Laura Dern & Nicholas Cage were the only choice to play the lead characters in "Wild at Heart" (1990): "Interviewer: Having seen Laura Dern as the naive and almost totally innocent Sandy in 'Blue Velvet' (1986), I was surprised by your casting of her as the very hot Lula in 'Wild at Heart' (1990). At the time that seemed like radical casting. Lynch: No. For me it was Laura all the way though. A lot of people found that inconceivable. They knew and respected her work, but they couldn’t see her playing Lula. But every character is made up of so many little subtleties, strange choices, odd little ways of saying a word. Lula is a hard character to get a handle on, and bubblegum has a lot to do with keeping her on track! I just pictured Laura as Lula, and Nicolas Cage as Sailor. They seemed to be perfect together. I took them to dinner early on, when they hadn’t even met each other, and there was a huge fire on Beverley Boulevard at the Cinematheque. That was weird, the fire on their first meeting." A nurse at Tema General Hospital shared a video showing the 20 packaged kenkey that a guy, currently in the talking stage with her colleague, sent to her after she told him she was hungry and wanted to eat kenkey. According to the nurse, her colleague mentioned to her talking-stage guy that she was hungry and craving kenkey. He replied that the he knew a good spot at UPSA and would buy some for her. Jokingly, the lady responded that she could even finish 20 kenkey if he bought that many.
