What they essentially got Starlink units that they ordered through Ukraine, and then and then smuggled them into the eastern Ukraine where the Russians are. In order to address this, what we worked with the Ukrainian government to create a whitelist of approved Starlink terminals. Now, this has some downsides, because a whole bunch of people who were just innocent users of Starlink and just trying to access the internet for work or for education, now don't have Starlink. The Ukrainian governor's publicly thanked Starlink many times for being instrumental in defending Ukraine."

"Starlink might be the #1 technology over time that improves people's standard of living around the world." - Elon Musk Starlink will enable high speed access for remote villages/towns around the world that otherwise would lack access. This potentially enables education and opportunity to reach literally the entire earth. I think for a portion of the world's population, especially the most poor, Starlink has potentially to radically make a difference. Lots of things to be optimistic about the future. This is one of them.

SpaceX now has over 10,000 Starlink satellites in orbit (and growing), providing internet data service to every corner of the earth. Even ships at sea or aircraft in the sky can receive high speed internet service. Over 2/3 of the active satellites in orbit are Starlink now. And it won't create any long term trash in orbit. The orbits are so low (480 km to 550 km) that even if SpaceX were to lose control of one, the small satellites will run out of fuel within 5 years.
