A thousand dollars a month just in taxes. Auto insurance just went up. Utilities just went up. Groceries just went up. This is one of the main reasons I moved from New Jersey to South Carolina. There’s no way wages are going up to compensate for this. We’re so screwed.

Let me explain: Blackrock is buying up tens of thousands of homes at bargain prices. Then sell them to companies under their umbrella way above market value. It’s Monopoly money to them bc they don’t pay the increase. The increase triggers higher prices & taxes for the area.

Literally the part I’ve never understood about “home ownership”; you “own” the home, but the government owns the land. So, if you don’t pay property tax, they get your home, which could have been paid off already, and you’re supposed to own outright.

Property tax is high when the city is broke… When schools, police, pensions, and county budgets get expensive, they raise levies and homeowners cover the difference... Most of the bill isn’t even your house, it’s all the little districts and fees they stack on… Inflation hits the government too, so instead of cutting spending, they tax everybody harder...

I am so grateful that our state does a “Property Tax Exemption” which reimburses half of our property tax on our house because my husband is a disabled veteran. His 100% P&T got the maximum refund amount.

Ohio has this thing called Homestead. It’s supposed to lower property taxes. Then they raise the value of your home so you end up paying what they want you to pay. We can’t get snap or food stamps or whatever the fuck but other countries getting welfare from America Every F Day!
