He says he could never imagine calling for violence against political opponents or their children. "Never forget, someone who thinks differently than you politically has given the last full measure of devotion in this remarkable country. That has always struck with me. In other words, we have big debates about big ideas. Scalia said, "I may disagree vehemently on ideas. I may attack ideas. I'm not gonna attack people." "They may be sincerely wrong, and given the fact that I've seen how dangerous some of these ideas can be, but I could never imagine advocating for violence against someone that I disagree with politically, much less their young children."
