I love playing here. There's some great guys in this clubhouse, some great people on the staff. Every single day, it's been a pleasure coming to work and putting on the orange and blue. The Fondant Custom Normals Blender addon is being tested, and we're aiming for a 1.0 release next week! The first feature is the Weighted Normals + Laplacian Smoothing Geometry Nodes modifier. This let's you calculate Normals that are as clean as a nice quad mesh even if your topology is a mess and triangulated! We'll be following up with more tools to support creating high quality Normals for 3D anime and vtuber characters. We have an optimized adjustable Face Normal Transfer proxy mesh nearly ready to go. But for simple shapes or clean curved surfaces, why not use curves directly Previously I've solved this by lofting the proxy mesh from a simpler set of curve profiles, but why not skip that and just define the Normals with the curve profiles directly? With typical Data Transfer modifier this isn't an option, but with Geometry Nodes it is no problem. And potentially gives much more control over interpolation and rigging.
