His name is Storm. He came to Mountain Ridge Shelter in February 2015 as a six-month-old stray - adopted within a month, returned seven weeks later for "destroying furniture." Adopted again in late 2015, back by spring 2016 because "neighbors complained he was too vocal." One more adoption in 2017, returned within six weeks for being "too high-energy for our kids." After that, people stopped looking at the growing Husky mix. His energy calmed as he aged, his face went completely gray, and he lived in kennel #8 for ten years. Yesterday, Thomas, 48, who'd just lost his own Husky of sixteen years last September, walked in. Staff tried showing him younger, healthier dogs with fewer behavior issues. Thomas refused all of them and asked specifically: "Which dog has waited here the absolute longest without being chosen?" We brought out Storm. Thomas knelt beside him, looked at his entirely gray face, and said: "Ten years in a kennel. That's over right now." He signed everything immediately and walked out with Storm that afternoon. Ten years is 3,650 days behind chain-link and concrete. The wait is finally over. It's never too late for an American shelter dog to finally be chosen.

The Delta Snake Review: Continuing the buildup for the eBook version of The Quitturz, here's an informal series that lists albums by artists I consider are the true “Godfathers Of Punk.” The True Godfathers Of Punk - Part One In the early days of Punk, it was common for music reviewers and writers to cite "Godfathers of Punk" from the 60s (or 50s) as influences on the first wave of artists. That was understandable; people naturally try to understand the origins of a new music genre, but it also reflected the age of the writers, most of whom were Boomers and publicists promoting back catalogs of '60s and '70s artists. However, a few decades later, it's evident that Punk wasn't a temporary fad and became a full-fledged genre. As a result, one could say that the true Godfathers were those outstanding groups in the first wave or generation of Punk. The artists in the first generation that I admired covered an extensive range of styles, ranging from pop, Rock, trash rock, and even progressive. In fact, you might only recognize many of the "Punk" songs by their sensibility (lyrics) or the group or artist's appearance. It was very much an attitude and fashion trend also. In the end, one could say that Punk wasn't just the latest thing but part of the natural process of the next generation of artists discovering Rock and Roll (and blowing past the usual gatekeepers that had developed in the previous generations). I will make a list of albums by artists I consider to be the true Godfathers of Punk, given that the genre continued on from their work. It goes without saying that there will be omissions that will convince Punk fans of my incompetence as a music critic and writer. I will cover those in no particular order and discuss one in this blog entry. Some of these albums now sound dated or overrated after a few decades, but those observations will be left out of the review. All of the albums that'll be mentioned deserve the respect given to works that were inspirations to the succeeding waves of musicians and listeners. I should note that, as usual, Google and other search engines are available if you want more details about chatbots or AI apps or if you prefer to read a lecture on the subject. Nick Lowe: Pure Pop For Now People (U.K. Title: Jesus Of Cool) - Stiff Records (US) Nick Lowe was pivotal in the punk movement as a session man, producer, and composer. He influenced the pop aspect of Punk (which was always there). Quite a few punk artists had a distinctive style, complete with a rebellious attitude, but their commercial breakthroughs tended to be their more accessible songs. One of the things he achieved was to make good Pop cool again. His first solo album was an extraordinary combination of Rock and recreations of old pop styles. One of the songs, "The Rollers Show," was very much a tribute to the notion that the younger generation discovers rock and roll hits in each generation, a thrill that you only really experience once before you get older Lyrically, he was quite different, as evidenced by one of his more eccentric songs, Marie Provost, which depicted the death of a once famous silent movie star, whose silent movie career was ruined once the "Talkies" came because of her New York accent. On the surface, it's black humor, but there is an undercurrent of sympathy and warmth, which is present in many of the best pop songs that involve a tragedy. As far as flat-out rockers, his song "Heart Of The City" rocks as hard as any Ramones cut. What can make a song sound like a hard rock isn't always the volume of the guitar(s) but the arrangement and mix. It's an album that doesn't sound dated, and it's well worth checking out. He was in jail when his wife told him she had saved ₹10 from family’s ₹50 pension. He didn't smile. He wrote to the society & asked them to cut his pension by ₹10—and give it to someone who actually needed it. When his daughter died during parole, he returned to prison before the leave ended. The parole, he said, was only to look after her. She was gone. His duty was not. Years later, as Prime Minister, he took a ₹5,000 bank loan to buy a Fiat because he would not use an official car as his own. He died before he could repay it. The government offered to waive the loan. His widow refused — and paid every rupee from her pension. This was Lal Bahadur Shastri. Power never raised his standard of living. It only raised his standard of duty. He died (or killed?) in mysterious conditions in Tashkent after winning 1965 war for Bharat against Pakistan. To me.... 2nd October matters only because it's Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti. Rest anything & everything is irrelevant. Ma Bharati ke iss sapoot ko shat shat naman🙏

Winston had been returned to the shelter three times before the Abbotts came for him. He was an old shar-pei, all wrinkles and gray whiskers, about 11 years old. Every family that took him home brought him back within a month. He was too old, too slow, and too set in his ways for most people. One family even said he was depressing to have around. By the time the Abbotts saw his photo online, the shelter staff had almost given up hope that anyone would choose him. Ray and Carol Abbott were in their late 60s and had just lost their own dog after 14 years together. Friends told them to get a puppy. Something young. Something with plenty of years ahead. Instead, they drove an hour to meet the old shar-pei nobody wanted. Carol says she knew the moment she saw him sitting quietly in the back of his kennel. That first night, Winston couldn't settle. He kept getting up to make sure Ray and Carol were still there. He'd walk to the bedroom, look at them sleeping, lie back down, then twenty minutes later he'd do it all again, as if he was waiting for someone to tell him it was over. Finally, Carol patted the foot of the bed. "Come on up, Winston. You're home now." He stood there for a long moment, almost like he couldn't believe she was talking to him. Then he climbed up slowly, turned around twice, and eased himself down against Ray's legs with a long groan that sounded more like relief than exhaustion. For the first time in months, Winston slept through the entire night. The Abbotts say he isn't going anywhere this time. And after being returned three times, Winston finally seems to believe them. Have you ever seen a dog realize it was finally home?

One year. That's all it took to turn one of the most painful moments of her young career into one of its greatest triumphs. At just 15, Syndrela Das walked away from the 2025 Butterfly UTT auction unsold. Every team had built its squad. Her name was never called. Many would have let that moment break them. She chose to let it build her. She returned to the training hall, worked harder than ever, kept winning at home and abroad, became World No. 1 in the ITTF U-17 Girls' Doubles rankings alongside Divyanshi Bhowmick, finished runner-up at the Senior National Championships at just 16, earned a place in India's squads for the World Team Championships and the 2026 Asian Games, and returned to the UTT auction as one of the most sought-after young players. Goa Challengers signed her after a fierce bidding war. Then came the perfect ending to the story. Representing Goa Challengers, Syndrela stunned Indian star Manika Batra in straight games. The same teenager who once watched her idol from the stands had now defeated her on the biggest stage. Some rejections aren't the end of the story. They're simply the chapter that makes the ending unforgettable. #SyndrelaDas #TableTennis #ButterflyUTT #IndianSports #Gamechangers [Gamechangers, Indian Table Tennis, Goa Challengers, Manika Batra, WTT, Asian Games 2026, Woman in Sports]

Exclusive | “World Stood Up for a Monkey, and Forget US”: From Punch the Monkey to Thousands of Orphaned Children in Gaza: How the World Reacts As global sympathy poured in for a baby monkey abroad, thousands of orphaned children in Gaza continued to grieve in silence under the weight of genocide. Among them is four-year-old Abood Mhjez, who has asked the same question every night since October 2024: “Where is my dad?” His father was killed in an Israeli strike after the family was forcibly displaced from their home in Sheikh Redwan, Gaza City. He had left to bring water and food and never returned; friends later found his body in the street. Now living in a tent, Abood waits for him to come home, asks to call him, and says he wants to go to Heaven to see him. His mother says trauma has consumed her son, he cannot sleep, forgets simple things, stares silently at walls, and breaks down when he sees other children with their fathers. Psychologists in Gaza describe unprecedented psychological destruction among children after two years of bombardment, starvation, displacement, and siege. According to Palestinian and UN figures, thousands of children have lost both parents and tens of thousands have lost one, in what officials call the largest orphan crisis in modern history. UNICEF estimates nearly all of Gaza’s 1.2 million children now require urgent mental health and psychosocial support, as an entire generation grows up marked by grief, fear, and loss.

Today, I received a call I will not forget. I had just woken up after studying through the night. As I prepared to pray, my phone kept ringing. I ignored it at first, but it persisted. When I finally answered, the voice on the other end said: “Pastor… my brother has died.” Silence filled my chest. He had been sick. Sleeping outside in the cold after the rains. Trying to survive in a city that is becoming increasingly unforgiving. His sister visited him with some food. He seemed better afterwards. But then, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. His sister was far away working. Pain does strange things to people. Sometimes it hardens the very heart that needs help the most. By the time his sister returned… he was already fading. And shortly after, he was gone. What broke me even more was this: She said she didn’t call earlier because she knew things have been tight, and I hadn’t been able to meet many of their needs recently. That sentence pierced deeply. This was a man who struggled—yes. He battled alcoholism. He fell, rose, and fell again. But he also believed. Just last Sunday, after a long absence, he came back to church. He said his spirit was restless until he returned. He worshipped. He served. That was the last time. I wasn’t there that day. And now, he lies in a morgue—another quiet casualty of hardship, addiction, and a city that demands more than many can give. But here is what I hold onto: God is not absent in broken stories. The same grace that meets us in our strength also meets us in our weakness. The One who began a work is not blind to the battles fought in secret. We must do better—for one another. We must see more, reach more, love more. Because sometimes, what looks like “irresponsibility” is actually exhaustion. What looks like “resistance” is actually pain. And what looks like “distance” is often a silent cry for help. Rest in peace, Brother Hassan Musa. May mercy speak louder than failure. And may God help us to be more present, more compassionate, and more responsive to the burdens around us.

Fourteen Israeli settlement activists illegally crossed the border into Syria a short while ago, before being returned to Israel by the IDF, the latest in a series of such incidents. The military says the 14 Israelis arrived near the border community of Alonei Habashan and crossed into Syria. IDF troops who were dispatched to the scene located the activists, returned them to Israeli territory, and detained them, the military says, adding that they were handed over to the police for further handling. The activists are members of the Bashan Pioneers group, which calls for establishing settlements in southern Syria. There has been an increase in attempts by the activists to cross the border into Syria in recent months. "The IDF strongly condemns the incident, which constitutes another serious disruption of operational activity and poses a danger to the safety of IDF troops operating in the area," the military says. The IDF adds that "law enforcement authorities are required to bring those involved to justice and to prevent those individuals from repeatedly engaging in this incident, which constitutes a criminal offense." No charges have been filed against the Bashan Pioneers members, and despite their illegal actions, they have also received support from coalition lawmakers. The group, in a statement this evening, says that "after we realized that there is support for the idea of legal Israeli settlement in the Bashan [area], both from the political side and from actors on the ground, but that they are not enough to bring things to implementation, the activists decided to return and push from below, in the hope that we will soon reach actual settlement."

Video footage captures Daniel Victor Jones picking up his gun just moments before he took his own life on live TV. The incident occurred on a Los Angeles freeway in 1998. On Thursday, April 30, 1998, 40-year-old Jones parked his Toyota pickup truck on the LA highway. He started pointing a loaded shotgun at passing cars on the freeway, prompting motorists to alert the police. Jones unfurled a large, square banner with white handlettering that read: "HMO's are in it for the money!! Live free, love safe or die." He had prepared the banner specifically for the occasion and displayed it for the news helicopters to see. As authorities prepared to negotiate with him, Jones abruptly returned to his truck and sat in the driver's seat. With the intention of ending his life, he ignited a Molotov cocktail inside his truck, causing it to burst into flames and become engulfed in fire. Moments later, he picked up his shotgun and fatally shot himself. Jones carried this act out on live TV as a form of protest towards health maintenance organizations after he had been diagnosed as HIV-positive several months earlier.

💔 A Young Doctor, A Silent Night…🥹🤯💔 Dr. Shubhankar Gautam, a urologist from Patna, had completed his MS and MCh and was posted at Heritage Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi. On Saturday morning, he saw patients in the OPD as usual. Later, he returned to his room on campus. By around 10 PM, his colleagues noticed that he had not come to the hostel mess for dinner. They called him repeatedly, but there was no response. Worried, his fellow doctors went with a security guard to Room 802. After knocking for a long time with no response, they were forced to break open the door. What they found was heartbreaking. Shubhankar was lying on his bed, unresponsive. Earlier, he had reportedly been seen sitting quietly, with his head down and body bent forward so much so that no one could imagine that he was no longer alive. He had been married for around five years and was living alone in Varanasi, while his wife lived in Patna. 🕯️ A doctor who spent his life caring for others… gone far too soon. The exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and different discussions are circulating. Only an official investigation can establish what actually happened.

Warning! Highly Sensitive video Corp Member Found Dead in Nembe, Bayelsa State; Police, NYSC Urged to Investigate A young Nigerian graduate and serving NYSC member, Okebaram Stanley Chimaoke, has reportedly been found dead in Nembe, Bayelsa State, under circumstances that remain unclear. Stanley, a former SUG President of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, was serving in Bayelsa when he reportedly went missing on Friday night after leaving his residence to get food from a local restaurant. According to accounts from his colleagues, he never returned. His body was reportedly discovered in a river around the Nembe waterside on Sunday afternoon with parts of his body allegedly eaten by crabs. What is particularly disturbing is that the actual cause of Stanley’s death remains unknown. There are concerns that no clear explanation has yet been provided about what happened between the time he went missing and when his body was found. There are also reports that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) reached out to the state and local police authorities over the matter, but the circumstances surrounding his death reportedly remain unresolved as no actual investigation is ongoing. Stanley was in 2023 Civil Engineering set. A young man who graduated, served as a student leader and proceeded to serve his country through the NYSC should not have his death treated as a mystery that nobody is willing to investigate. The Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Police Command and NYSC must urgently investigate this case. Nigeria Police Force @BayelsaPolice NYSC NDHQ Stanley’s family, friends and colleagues deserve answers. His disappearance, the circumstances surrounding the discovery of his body and the actual cause of his death must be properly investigated. This is very very sad to say the least! How did someone who went to get food end up in a river?

Who is Jens Kjeldsen? Jens Erik Kjeldsen has spent years sailing the world’s oceans, departing from Greenland in his own sailboat. Together with his wife, Dorthe Kjeldsen, He completed a circumnavigation of the globe, sailing from Greenland through the Northwest Passage and continuing via routes that included South America. During a voyage in Greenlandic waters back in 2018, Jens and Dorthe Kjeldsen became involved in a rescue operation later shown in a DR documentary. A woman was rescued from the icy waters of Disko Bay following a serious accident involving a small boat. She was the only survivor after several others lost their lives. The rescue took place after the woman had spent several hours in the water. Their voyages were carried out aboard their privately owned sailboat Kigdlua, which served as both home and means of transport during long periods at sea. Along the way, they crossed both the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. After completing their circumnavigation, the sailing continued. In 2022, Jens Kjeldsen sailed alone from Greenland toward Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean, a journey described in Greenlandic media as the fulfillment of a long-held personal dream. The journey was later completed when the couple sailed together again and returned to Greenland. Jens Erik Kjeldsen and his wife have sailed more than 32,000 nautical miles during their voyages.

$This is William. Navy. Afghanistan. Four deployments between 2008 and 2016. PTSD nightmares every single night for eight years. Violent. Thrashing so hard he's broken two ribs and fractured his wrist punching walls. His wife Emma moved to a different bedroom four years ago because William's thrashing was dangerous. William's psychiatrist recommended an elite PTSD service dog with advanced nightmare detection. Cost: $30,000. Wait list: four years. William couldn't afford it. Couldn't wait that long. Found Cooper at a city shelter instead. Five-year-old Golden Retriever. Cooper had been returned twice. Previous owners said: "Wakes us up at night for no reason," "Whines and paces when nothing's wrong," and "Won't stay off the bed." First night Cooper came home, William started having very subtle finger movements around 1:30 AM. Before any thrashing. Before any major movement. Cooper jumped from the floor onto William's bed. Laid across his chest. William's eyes opened gently. No nightmare developed. No thrashing. Just woke up calm. Now Cooper does this every single night. William installed professional night vision cameras to document it. His psychiatrist reviewed the footage with a specialist and said: "Cooper is detecting nightmare onset in the initial phase. We're talking finger twitches. Micro facial movements. He's stopping nightmares before they develop. That's elite-level detection work. Most service dogs react after screaming. Cooper reacts to movements invisible to the human eye." The "waking owners up for no reason" that got Cooper returned twice was him detecting things humans can't see. Now that same hyper-awareness saves William every night. William told us: "I haven't had a full nightmare in seven months. Cooper catches them before they start. The dog nobody wanted is doing $30,000 worth of work." Sometimes one family's annoyance is another person's lifesaving early warning system.$

UNBELIEVABLE: As Speaker Mike Johnson holds up Ukraine aid, questions reemerge about the illegal money he received from at least one Russian oligarch. In 2018, Johnson received campaign contributions from the company “American Ethane,” 88% of which is owned by three Russian nationals. The campaign says he returned the money after he was exposed. But he's still doing favors for Putin. If we look at his record, we see that Johnson: -Voted against the 2022 Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation. -Voted for Amendment 22 to HR 2670 which would have prohibited all security assistance for Ukraine. -And now he's refusing to pass the $60 billion bill for aid to Ukraine. MJ: "You only got three, I got six." When asked in 2017, who ranks higher between LeBron and Kobe, MJ picked Kobe. His reasoning: "Would I rank LeBron over Kobe in terms of best of all time? No. There's something about five that beats three." The goal has always been to win championships. Trying to include Robert Horry in the conversation is just a red herring. People try and use Kobe's 00 Finals average as an indictment to his contribution to winning that ring but fail to bring up Kobe's defense in game one, holding Reggie Miller to 1-16 in a decisive 104-87 victory. Feel free to read that again. To show you Kobe's value, he was injured in game 2 after almost 9 minutes of play and what was a 17 point victory turned into a 6 point victory and a 9 point loss in game 3 without him. Indiana could've easily won game 4 after Shaq fouled out, and we all know what happened next. Kobe earned that ring despite how you interpret the box score. At the end of the day, Kobe still has five championships that the Lakers wouldn't have won without him. The proof in that statement lies in the fact that when Kobe had a lesser role in 97, 98, & 99, they were gentlemen swept, swept, and swept before even making the finals. The minute Kobe's role increased, they rattled off three straight championships. That's not a coincidence...

He was 88, a veteran, and facing the loss of the only home he had left. The courtroom felt too large as he sat in his wheelchair, trying to stay upright while everything closed in. Walter Greene had lived quietly since his wife passed. No children visited, and no one stood beside him that afternoon. The small house he owned had aged faster than he had, with a broken porch, peeling paint, and a roof that leaked every time it rained. City citations stacked up, and the repairs stayed out of reach. The case was called, and Walter listened as the violations were read aloud. Each number landed heavier than the last. When the city attorney asked for permission to condemn the property if payment failed, the meaning became impossible to avoid. Losing the house meant losing the last place that still telt like his. The judge started to speak, then stopped. From the bench, he watched Walter fold forward, hands covering his face as quiet sobs shook his shoulders. No words filled the room, and nobody moved. After a long pause, the gavel came down. A brief recess was announced, and the courtroom emptied in a low murmur of confusion. When the judge returned, his tone had changed. He addressed Walter directly and explained that phone calls had been made during the break. The local veterans organization had stepped in, along with a county fund dedicated to former service members. Every fine was dismissed. Relief barely had time to settle before more followed. A contractors group had already agreed to complete the repairs at no cost, with work starting the next week. Walter looked up, stunned, as tears returned for a different reason. The weight he carried for months finally eased. Then something unexpected happened. The judge left the bench, crossed the room, and knelt beside the wheelchair. Strong arms wrapped around the old veteran, holding him steady when he couldn't do it himself. Walter's voice shook as he spoke into the judge's shoulder. He said he didn't think anyone remembered him anymore. The judge held him close and spoke softly, the words meant only for him. "It's all right. You're not standing here alone. Sometimes it feels like nobody remembers anymore. We remember. I do what you gave me. We don't forget that. Thank you. John."

The Pelicans started doing something that could help us win A LOT of money... Dejounte Murray 6+ Assists (+115) Feel Free to Ladder after reading the reasoning below and the videos attached⤵️ Last game vs the Lakers, Dejounte Murray had 15 Potential Assists in 28 minutes, and they were all pretty good quality looks The big change they made to the offense is using ZION as the roll-man in the Pick and Roll. This 2-man game that has Dejounte as a willing and creative passer, sending chances to Zion who is one of the premier finishers in the paint in the NBA lead to 4 of his 8 assists alone. Today he gets to face a Suns defense that is missing one of their big bodies in Mark Williams and another one of their biggest enforcers in Dillon Brooks, while also being on the 2nd leg of a B2B. Dejounte just returned from a lengthy recovery of an Achilles Tear 4 games ago but had 13 months of recovery. This is on the longer end of recovery time (at least in modern medicine) and has ramped up to 28 minutes last game. Anything above 25 and we should cash out here! If you made it this far.... I hope you are tailing! Make sure to show some love before you leave
