thinking about how Digital Devil Saga lets you input your next party member's action before the animation/camera angle of the previous action ends 6 actions done in 20 seconds without a skill skip feature

source of the DDS clip if you want to see more, note that this player doesn't have menu memory enabled but it exists as an option to remember each party member's last selected skill to save inputs on repeated commands

Its crazy how there were games where battles basically progressed as fast as you could navigate the menu, but that kind of thing just never caught on it makes such a difference in how a turn based game feels

Idk why this hasn't been a standard in Atlus games since, SMT5 needed this badly as it's the slowest mainline game by far. P5 and Etrian Odyssey are fast enough though

There’s little I wouldn’t stoop to for persona combat to be as smooth as DDS or SMT 4

SMT4 is pretty snappy by nature of being 2d but it does suffer from some laggy menus sadly

YES, this was something I loved from my playthrough of DDS1 last year. I wish Atlus took advantage of this with their recent releases, SMTV's menus feels so sluggish to get through compared to this.
