Arresting Don Lemon makes him the face of the First Amendment. TWO Black journalists were arrested for covering a protest, NOT for protesting. The First Amendment protects the press. To be clear — I believe houses of worship should be off limits. Protesting inside churches is wrong. But COVERING those protests as a member of the press is NOT. Frankly, his arrest should scare you. If the government tells reporters what protests they can cover, who they can quote, or when they can show up — that’s a problem. That’s not a free country. You don’t get to arrest accredited journalists because you don’t like the optics. Trump made it personal. Now the whole country is watching. Don Lemon — this is your moment. And everyone else in media should be proud to have your back.
