I saw it with my own eyes after visiting California City Detention Facility last month: detainees are living in inhumane conditions without basic medical care. It's unacceptable.

I am appalled after conducting my oversight visit today at MDC Brooklyn and learning more about the conditions of detention. Civil immigration detainees with no criminal records — who should not be in custody of any kind — are being held under the exact same restrictive conditions as criminal defendants. 14 hours locked in cells, rationed phone time, insufficient medical care, and dirty water. This is inhumane and unacceptable. ICE must immediately change these unjust and draconian conditions.

We got negative pressure rooms, so if we find somebody with TB, they're putting in a negative pressure room so they can't affect the rest of the population. These things are mitigated.
