Moths dont emerge from their cocoon with their wings developed, they have to manually inflate them after hatching using the excess liquid they have in their abdomen This is a extremely delicate process and failure to do this a few hours after hatching will cause a moth to not be able to fly whatsoever as their wings would have hardened (This part of their life is very important to take in mind when raising caterpillars, as if you aren't ready for it the moth is very likely to be hurt) This also has the hilarious effect of the moths sometimes looking obese from how large their abdomen is Video is by @\StatedClearly on youtube, their video has the best showcase + short explanation of the inflating process and I couldn't even dream of explaining it this simply if I could.
